so, here's my question... in the 24 hours that the rankings came out, how did Ego lose any ability on a football field, or lose any talent he may have?
nothing, absolutely NOTHING about the actual player changed, but yet he "lost" a star!! the only thing that changed was someone's opinion of him vs. their opinion of someone else!
i guess i just don't get the whole following the star ranking systems as gospel act... i honestly could care less with how high a guy is ranked with regards to stars.... the only thing i want to know is 1. what does he bring, in terms of fitting into what we are trying to, to LSU? 2. how can we maximize the player's potential and get the most out of the player? 3. can this player represent LSU and the state of Louisiana well?

I'll answer your questions but only if you quit dropping a deuce in every thread imaginable. Kapeesh?
He didn't. But maybe his talent wasn't as good as they once thought? Maybe his less than stellar performance at the AA bowl against top notch competition illustrated that he's not AS elite as they figured?
It's not "this guy lost talent so he loses a star." It's usually well now that we see this guy in person he's better than we thought he was and this guy now that we see him isn't as good as we thought.

I already addressed this in the other thread you tried to shite up but the bottom line is of course these sites miss people just like NFL coaches and execs drop the ball in the NFL draft room, but for the MOST part they do an extremely good job of highlighting the best players in the country.
As far as the stars go 2 things:
1) It's nice to see players get recognition (Spencer Ware).
2) It's just another way for fans to compete with one another.

Besides, how does one log onto a "RECRUITING BOARD" internet message board and become surprised to find the denizens thereon are interested in the largest RECRUITING service updated rankings???

i'm not going anywhere... i AM talking about recruiting... what i am talking about is how retarded the ranking systems are...
they do serve a purpose, but that purpose gets altered in the mind of the casual fan... i hate that... i hate it for the guys being ranked most of all... they work their asses off (most of the time) trying to be as good as they can, only be told they are only a 2 star or 3 star? this sets them back, because good teams a la LSU, Florida, etc. won't look at them as extensively as a 4 star... this put them behind the 8 ball, so to speak, in terms of the future...
they won't have the same opportunities and chances that a big program recruit will have, and is that fair that just because someone watched a film and formed an opinion, they have to put into that situation...
that's why i get upset over the rankings!! i know most of you all don't see it that way, but i do... i just wish the recruiting service providers would list thier stats, measurables, and post their pros and cons... no rankings...
