No but Palmer tracks very closely with Devonta Smith's skillset. Smith more sound and natural as a receiver. I think Lee tracks more along the Devonta Jason, Kenan Jones level IMO. Different eyes see different things so it's an open discussion.

I like Emery but no way I see him in the top 2 rbs in the country. The other IMG kid Sanders, the VA kid and the NC kid Crouch(if listed as a rb) are all gonna be tough to top. Then there are countless others that could rise.

No way you don't take Davis. Hes a bird in hand and a strong Bama push. First part because neither Emery or Cain are locks. Second the Bama push tells me the kid is pretty damn good. So what he isn't flashy and explosive. I'd he can follow blocks and run with power he will be successful. Better long term projection than Darrell Williams and DW is likely to get drafted.

The state of GA is loaded. The 20th ranked player in the state is damn near a 94 rating. Insane

My personal opinion is the staff wants CAIN over Emery and Davis. That is fine, he is very good.

If they want 3 backs and believe they can lull it off then it makes sense to have offered bith Davis and Emery early in the process. If not, they should have been patient in the process and waited for this offseason and summer months to evaluate.

Emery is a special back. Watch his film and you will see so yourself.

I applaud Davis for his commitment early on though and he is still an outstandinf back, but as LSU diehard fan I want the best and Emery is the best. He is a S' Barkley type back.

Great post, I agree with almost all of it.

I think Kenan Jones doesn't get talked about enough, but from what I've seen, he is a great size/speed prospect. Just not polished like the other WRs we're talking about.

Who's he VA kid? I think Emery is damn good.

Agree on Davis. I think he'll end up in the top 247.

Sopsher and Cain are the 1a and 1b priorities of the staff for the class.

I feel good about Stingley and Thomas is already committed to LSU.

At this point I feel good about all the current Top 10 Louisiana players on 247 except Burdine.

(ETA: It's hella early, baws.)

2019 class set to be possibly the greatest class of recruits of all time at LSU. Starting with the top overall prospect coming from Amite, La.... Gonna be an epic year next cycle.

Davis is a damn good RB.

6-0 225 lbs with his running ability is pretty rare.

Breaks a lot of tackles. I like him a lot.

Where? Mildly discussed at best.

I just dont expect emery to commit with those on board.

The staff has talked to all three about it. They all met and hung out at one of the games during the season. It was never a problem with Emery, but it was with Cain. Now it’s not an issue for any of them. Emery and Davis will be here as long as things don’t implode, Cain will be too if we can have a successful season.

I’d say Gunnell, Thibodeaux, Kenyon Green, Stingley, Emery, Palmer, and Lee are higher on the overall board right now. Sopsher definitely No.1 though.

Sting got offered by Stanford this week. That’s a big time offer for him, family’s real big on academics. Shakes things up. Corey has to stay past NSD 2019 to get Stingley. Kardell is the master of overreactions. I’d put money on it he takes all 5 OVs but I’d bet anything he still ends up at LSU.

Once Burdine gets an offer he’ll jump on it pretty quickly. Dudes legit.

It's pretty clear that the product LSU puts on the field this year will determine if this class ends up elite or not.

A 7-5 or worse year, and I think the class fails to materialize like everyone hopes.

Such an important year/recruiting class for LSU.

Wow... the Lab schools are stacked in the LA rankings. Each has 5 recruits in the top 31 ranked LA players.

The ONLY way I would be pissed about that outcome is if they didn't even try to get Cain. Getting those two, Emery and Davis, would be pretty damn awesome.

Georgia high school talent in football is highly overrated. Just look at the list of pro players and talent that LSU gets on a yearly basis. Our talent pans out more times than not, which is why we put players in the NFL at such a staggering rate. Nflsu. This is why players want to come here, we prepare them for the NFL and their careers. Period.

I know it's early in the process so of course things change, but why is there so much confidence in Cain from LSU's side? 4 other teams have more CBs at this point than LSU. I don't know if he ends up at OSU but they are in it for sure

Everyone feels confident about Noah. Dude kind of tells everyone what they want to hear. I think it comes down to LSU and tOSU/Texas myself.

I've always viewed tOSU as the 'biggest threat', coming from a Purple & Gold POV, for Cain.

That's why strategically (and hypothetically), if LSU were to choose between Emery and Cain and devote less resources to one over the other, it would be smarter to choose to let Cain slip away because Emery stands a higher chance of staying in the SEC, and likely the West.

It won't be approached that way for sure, but with that purely hypothetical scenario in mind, I as a fan would be happier to see Emery/Davis than Cain/Davis (although, that wouldn't sadden me!)

The big time thing for OSU is where they are next year at RB. Weber will be gone, but Dobbins will be a true junior (and likely gone after that if he plays up to his immense potential). However, OSU, if they take Tavion Thomas, will have taken 3 RBs and 1 RB/WR hybrid just this year. OSU is also in it for Ford pretty deep. If Thomas goes to OSU, I think they can only take 1 next cycle, which means they will be shooting for the stars because there isn't as much of a desperate need

At first i thought it was coincedence but I too have noticed that almost everytime someone commits to LSU or is a LSU lean their ranking drops. Not that it matters how many stars you have or what the nay sayers say...ultimatley it matters what you do on the football field but it is ironic
