So what happen to Dayne Crist (SP) at ND, I thought he was the backup. He didn't even get to down the ball for Jimmy C.

I remember LSU was one of his top choices back during his recruiting process, but he of course picked ND.

Stupid decision, Dayne, stupid decision.

Senior Evan Sharpley is the backup. Dayne Crist is a true freshman and is redshirting.

And just a walk-on.

EDIT: Didn't even see you typed Nick. Nate is the one at ND.

Only if he would turn out to be really good. It might help with recruiting a little bit though.

Yeah Joe's oldest, NATE Montana, is the walk-on at Notre Dame.

NICK is the recruit for next year, and he is apparently scholarship worthy.

I'm sure he must be red-shirting. Even Weis isn't that dumb.

Link to a story I posted way back when on Crist, and how he came close, at least at one time, to commiting to LSU. And just maybe an indication on how later visits are advantageous.

quote:

LSU was Crist’s first trip. And if he hadn’t already set up all the others, he’d likely be heading to Baton Rouge. He liked the campus, the coaches, felt comfortable with everything. Coach Charlie Weis can thank Crist’s advance booking for bringing him to South Bend.

“I was very close to (committing to LSU), very, very close,” Crist said. “Then I took the trip to Stanford, and I liked that a lot, but I was still thinking LSU. Then I went to a couple practices at (USC) and talked with coach (Pete) Carroll and coach (Steve) Sarkisian a couple times before I went to Notre Dame, like two or three times.
