Bama also wants Brassell as a WR. State and Ole Miss are offering him as a WR

Alabama is recruiting him like Jabriel Washington. Offering him as both a WR and DB, with the probability of ending up on defense very high.

That may actually hurt Bama's 2011 class in recruiting WR's and the fact they already have 2 committed already doesnt help much either.

We have three WRs committed; Danny Woodson, Marvin Shinn, and Darryl Collins. We might add one more, like Quinta Funderburke from Virginia. His size (6-5 205) is too great to turn down, and he wants to play with his former teammate, Phillip Sims.

He has great speed. He's not Mike Bowman, even though Bowman is staying at WR for now.

The top Bama guys I've talked to say that Funderburke is the backup plan to Singleton and Brassell.Singleton in particular. Not saying you are wrong but most Bama insiders feel that if Bama really wanted Funderburke that he'd already be commited.I tend to agree.I think he'll be the guy you get though.Singleton is going to be hard to get out of Mississppi from what I've heard.

It wouldn't surprise me if that's the case. There's just more chatter about Funderburke. Mostly because he played with Sims. Regardless, landing Singleton or Funderburke may be difficult with three WRs already committed, and eight signed the last two years. As for Brassell, I think he's seen more as a DB by the Alabama staff. Although he'll be given the shot to start at WR.

Brassell is the top CB prospect I have seen for 2011. I love what he can do at that position. I am not nearly as high on him at WR, but if he is converted to CB then I see a future 1st rounder--I think he is that talented. I think he is a top 40s national recruit as a CB but only a 150 type talent at WR.

If Alabama can somehow get Brassell out of Batesville, to go along with Washington, the 2011 CB class will be amazing. However, getting South Panola guys away from Ole Miss can be difficult.
