"Huge 2017 target"

These super early commitments are just stupid. Prospects commit early and realize that they're missing out on trips and attention so they decommit. Can't blame the prospects, but there needs to be a better way.

What does it negatively effect now? I don't see why it's such a big deal.

They need an early signing period in August before their senior year. That way the ones that just want to be done with it can be. They can focus on school and football and not have coaches calling them all the time.

Me personally, it has zero effect. Why commit that early in the 1st place? A lot can happen before NSD.

They're young and impressionable. They think they know what they want.

A lot of us may have caved from the attention when we were 18 as well.

this is the type of guy we need. someone who can run and throw if clm will let him. if he wasn't coming to LSU with franks here then he not coming with haskins here. maybe he knows we getting someone like russo.

Why wouldn't you commit early? It basically ensures you a college education. If you get hurt, then all offers can come off table. Harder to pull offer to committed player no matter how bad the injury. Then, all you have to do is switch when you decide. Morally correct, maybe not, but logical, yes.

Did you not want him to commit originally? It screwed us in the end, but what's wrong with a kid changing his mind? It's America and he is allowed to do that even if it negatively affects your football team.

A early signing period would help alleviate all of this of course not really in this situation...
