Yeah, but I gave my breakdown rating system in another thread. I have MORE than 32 5* since that is based on that nonsense 1st round pro projection. I have 50 5* in my category, so it is 5 5* out of 50, not 5 out of 32. Believable now in your mind right?

Keys should be a 5 star he’s the best out of the great linebacker class
I'll stick with Cobbins and Atkins above him. I have no proof for Dobbins but do have some for Atkins. The top 12 nominees for Texas HS defensive player of the year came out (think it was Dave Campbell doing it but not sure). Atkins was one of the 12...Keys was not.

And BTW, I NEVER said I looked at as many kids as the services. I only look at prospects LSU is interested in... a tiny fraction of HS players.
Star ratings are comparative. How can you POSSIBLY assign ratings without assessing others?

It is ONLY comparative because the recruiting services try to make it that way. I think that Fox Sports has it right and basically use their logic:
"5* - Elite prospect and immediate starter potential as a TR FR. Prospect is a mismatch in talent, skill, or ability to opponents. Has demonstrated outstanding technique and knowledge of the game and will be an immediate impact player in college.
4*- Excellent prospect and has the potential to start as a TR FR and make an impact.
3* Good prospect who is above average and will contribute to the program and will probably eventually start but needs some more development."
There is no requirement under their scale to compare one HS player vs another HS player . They base it totally on the expected contribution of HS players. Notice they are talking college NOT pro.

Of note, I never said the sky is falling nor that the recruiting services are gospel, only that it makes no sense to rate players if you are only going to assess those committing to LSU. Let’s just say “we filled many of our needs” and forgo assigning arbitrary stars.

I don't remember calling you out by downvoting posts like mine but I guess you just called yourself out.

We simply see it differently.
Talent acquisition in a competitive sport always occurs in relation to your competition. LSU can sign a great class of contributors, but that can still leave you falling behind your competition if they recruit even better.

Another often overlooked part of signing day is BALANCING the class. That means addressing needs as you have mentioned. I have brought up the Ed Orgeron example. Orgeron finished very high in the recruiting rankings but look back at his OL signees for example. It was like 2 or 3 a year. And in the Central Florida bowl game, he literally had to play WRers as CBs. So comparing LSU with this many star points vs Georgia with that many star points is a waste of time IMO. What counts is how did LSU fill their needs and did LSU waste any scholarships by offering non-SEC caliber players OR as Orgeron used to do...sign too many skill players and not enough trench players, particularly on offensive line.

Totally agree that a balanced (but still great) class is much better than a class with an elite rating with glaring holes.

The Danielle hunter I described is the high school senior version. Which is why I said “prospect”

Make an attempt to learn about LSU football.

I missed the word prospect in your post but I still say that Reliford will be ahead of Hunter as a TR FR. Hunter was on special teams his FR season. Then he started MOST games his SO year. But only as a JR did he start all LSU games.
Oh, and we are 1-1 in corrections. Reliford is listed as an EDGE, not a DL (247 site).

You do know that when it comes that award it’s mainly a qb and they try not to put two players from the same team in there. Keys has film shutting down the number ‘24 RB and arguably the number #1 ‘26 RB. Hey that’s your eval though. There’s very solid debate ground that he’s the best LB in the class, if he was 6’2” probably arguhes a top 5 LB in the nation because his numbers/production is better than most if not all of the LBs ahead of him imo, I won’t be surprised if he’s ends performing the best of the LBs at the AA game in San Antonio

That wasn’t too 12 defensive player award, Dave Campbell comes out with Mr. Texas which they try not to put 2 guys from one team and it’s mainly qb driven and the other is whataburger super team
