Most predicted this class would finish around 15 a long time ago

After all of the 3 stars that were taken so early most people knew this class would finish in the 12-16 range and people were very concerned. Others claimed the threes would turn into fours and LSU would close strong but it did not happen. Now after LSU signed it’s lowest ranked class since 2002 people are shocked but this was predicted a long time ago after LSU loaded up on 3 star players.

One thing to take is that Coach O is not going to finish strong and we are more than likely not to get a high recruit that is on the fence with LSU on NSD. It is a shame that there were several four star players that wanted to commit but LSU passed on them due to numbers and hoping for a homerun later that never happened. LSU gambled and was burned.

Actually, most predicted it would be in the top 10. Stop trying to rewrite history to make this look better for 0.

I can't believe that O held the scholarship for surtain. if this guy wouldn't commit before NSD we should've signed Goodrich. and foster was never coming - so we had a scholarsip for Goodrich anyway.

this, to me, is the most boneheaded thing about this class. Now, I don't know for sure if Goodrich wanted to come here, but if he did, we should've offered a scholly.

with lsu's luck it's doubtful fulton will play next year. so we'll have 3 corners, 4 including joseph. prolly some wr's who could play corner I expect.

once again we have a hole in the lineup. which is better than the 2 we had last year - oline and dline.

Joseph was already committed to LSU and shut down all other visits to other schools. He was already counted in our recruiting ranks before NSD on all recruiting sites. Stop acting like he was on the fence or was unexpected.

My post below on that day:

The class is almost full and has a ton of 3 star players. This class will finish in the 10-15th range. I say it will finish 12.

I was too optimistic it appears.

If we could have landed at least one CB I think that people would be more optimistic. Even if it wasn't Surtain.

Other than that it's a pretty solid class that addressed the other areas of need.

Fortunately we're very deep at safety. If Paris is coming back he could provide some depth at the CB spot. The Fulton situation will be pretty pivotal also.

There is legitimate reason for concern but I don't think we need to start jumping off of cliffs just yet.

Lester.

You know yourself that the finish was a disappointment to the Coaches and the Fans.

It was mismanaged period.

I am sure that you care about LSU sports and would have tried to handle it differently also.

Coach O knew that Fulton was not out of the doghouse yet but his plan all along was 2 db's is this class Surtain and Joseph.
Knowing that you only have 3 active cb's at the moment and only 1 is proven should have made cb a higher priority.

By Coach O's own statements it did not.

Now we have another hole.

That is poor planning, poor decision making and then topped off by poor execution.

It's easy to say its mismanaged in hindsight.

The process O explained yesterday in his press conference was very sound. You can't sit here and say it's bad because it didn't go our way. Process over results.

Some people melted harder than others but the ones that act like all is Dandy are no better.

All the talk about already having the talent to make the 4 team playoff then the talk of filling holes now creating new holes.

Improvement maybe in some areas but still not balanced enough even in an area that we are short in cb's.

If Fulton does not make it back or if there is even 1 injury we have serious problems. That is not even considering the possibility that Greedy will be gone after this season.
If we have to take a lot of cb's next season you are just moving the problem around.

bullshite Lester.

Only wanting 1 cb in this class as the overall recruiting strategy was plain out stupid and feed into the poor result.

I don't even think that your plan would have been 1 cb in this class.

That is my problem with it all.

Like I said in another post.
Once we were in this position after the early signing date.
If Goodrich was number 4 on my board with only 3 spots left.
I would have kept Goodrich on the phone - had one of my other Coaches call Foster and if Foster did not commit then I would have let Goodrich commit period.

That is how I would have tried to handle it at the end.

However, the original problem was the lack of balance.
Who knows how the Seth Steward situation played into it of the kicker scholly situation played into it.

The bottom line is control the things that you can control which was the Goodrich situation on Sunday.
The way it was handled we lost all 3.

Fans have the right to be frustrated or whatever.

Had we gotten the guys they expected we would have finished 10.
I posted after the early signing after looking at numbers we would finish around 10.
The post is somewhere in my history. I'm not going back and look for it.
