He looks like he'll be about Glenn Dorsey's size once he is in college, and Glenn was a powerlifter in high school.

After watching that video, its apparent none of you know what the hell a bench shirt is, and only only a couple of you seem to understand the point of a board press.

If he pauses 405, then he doesn't max 480. The difference is too high. The bench shirt he is wearing adds anywhere from 35-75 pounds depending on the material.

He's still very strong for his age, but that video probably correlates to a raw 450lb touch-n-go at the most. I'd say 420lb pause is the most he could manage, and that's a bit generous.

Sorry if that rained on your parade a little. 420 is still a pretty legit press for someone that age. Even if they are 300lb.

I just earned my B.S. in Exercise Science with a minor in Sports and Exercise Psychology, am taking the CSCS exam in a month, am USAW certified , am applying for graduate assistantships at various S&C programs, have worked with D1 athletes who are entering the NFL draft, and have actually competed in powerlifting competitions in which I not only won but also set records for my division.

Other than jack-off to videos of teenagers lifting weights, what kind of experience do you have?

You are the expert man. I powerlifted with some of the best powerlifters in the WORLD. I used to spot Gary Frank when he was warming up on squats with 600. I was personally coached by Sarge Pendley prior to his death so I think that may qualify me. The bench shirts that are used under the rules of USAPL do not give you another 50 lbs. Maybe the double-ply shirts but not the ones these guys are allowed to use in high school. I just watched him smoke 425 with a three second pause.

BTW, you might be surprised at who posts on this board and their qualifications to do so.

He did 440 a while back in a powerlifting meet.

The only thing I saw from his videos that struck me was his deadlift. This is his weakest lift and I would expect it to be from his body type. He uses the convential style and I think he could deadlift a lot more if he switched to sumo. Usually, longer limbed and wiry athletes tend to be natural at the deadlift, especially using a convential style. I have a similar body shape as Mickey and I found using my strong hips and legs in the sumo style improved my dlift by about ten percent.

Like I said, I went by the video provided. In that video, with the shirt he's wearing and the board he's using, 500 is out of his reach for a standard press.

After viewing his own videos, at his regional powerlifting meet video he's visibly wearing the same shirt when he misses 450 on a pause.

Single ply shirts in general usually add 10% give or take a few pounds. Anyone who powerlifts and is familiar with them should be able to concur. Of course each one differs, but not by a great amount unless you're specifically looking for one that does aid a great deal.

I don't doubt you have done the things you've said you have, or know the people you claim to know though. I'm just here to point out what seems obvious to me, and not so obvious to several ITT.

Deadlifts are actually not as practiced in football lifting circles as many would think. Cleans and snatches are more predominantly used in the "off-the-floor" lifts due to the speed factor required. DLs are still a great mass builder and overall strengthening lift but at 16, I would imagine many wouldn't have had a lot of time or practice to have an breathtaking max.

Ok...whatever you say. My brother is a sports medicine doctor and prior to this was a powerlifter and in his younger days a bodybuilder who is still the youngest to win the Mr. Louisiana overall.

I know Gary Frank personally, watched him deadlift 1063 in New Orleans and also saw Kellum hit 900 something at the same meet. Please spare me. My brother is on the following video spotting Captain Kirk Karwoski when he squatted 1003 in Baton Rouge for the World Record. My brother is the one directly behind him. I think my brother, Dr. Thomas P. Cockerham M.D. knows as much as you.

Why is it that people have to come on here and try to downplay the kid's lifting prowess and call people out by saying they know you don't know shite and you're lying?
