Michael Daugherty (S) is perfect for the M. House defense

This kid is a versatile DB that lines up at boundary CB, Nickel, FS, and even LB for Grayson HS in Georgia.
Despite measuring just 6'1" & 180-lbs., Daugherty plays w/ the instincts and physicality of a 215-lb. linebacker. He finished his junior year with 91 tackles, recording 15.5 TFLs, 6 PBUs, 4 sacks, & 7 QB hurries in the process. Take a look at his "Jr. season HUDL" linked below, and you will find a helluva football player w/ immense talent that can be highlighted as follows:
-plays w/ a fearless intensity and aggressive physicality, particularly around the line-of-scrimmage when it comes to stopping the run,
-instinctive pass rusher off the edge with quickness & speed to whiz past OTs and tenacity to take on blocking TEs,
-possesses the length and quick-twitch agility to cover in space and play the Nickel, and
-will most likely be capable to transition to traditional FS/SS after a couple years in a collegiate S&C program.
"Jr. season HUDL"
Based on M. Daugherty's talent and skillset described above, he's an ideal candidate for Matt House's defense as follows:
1) Serve as the Nickel safety, which besides the "Jack LB", is arguably the most important role in House's defense.
2) In House's "3-3-5 Over", the Nickel is a 3rd safety with numerous responsibilities in this scheme. This defender must be able to come up into the box and provide run support, make plays in space (cover/tackle) on WRs/TEs, and sometimes rush the passer.
---------------------------------------------------------
Michael Daugherty plays a similar role and has similar responsibilities in his HS defense, which is why House/Cooks have prioritized him for the 2023 class. Based on what I've been reading the last couple days, it sounds like we should be receiving good news when Daugherty announces his commitment tomorrow (4/13/22).

Does his game scream Grant Delpit or what?

Honestly sounded like the Badger when reading that write up

If you want to see the closest thing to the Honey Badger as a HS prospect, go check out the "Junior season HUDL" highlights in my other thread on Bryce Thornton.
Kid's game is strikingly similar to Tyrann Mathieu - all the way down to the jersey number (Thornton wears No. 7 for Grayson HS team in Alpharetta, GA).
See 'HUDL' link w/in thread linked below.
3* S Bryce Thornton is grossly underrated

Daugherty reminds me of Jamal Adams, actually. Kid’s a tackling machine.

I agree with your Jamal Adams comp also

After reading and watching some of what House likes to do man Jacoby Matthews would’ve been a hell of a weapon in his defense

You mean the kid that thought 450k was life changing money and worth choosing a school with no DB tradition?

My name is not Michael Daugherty

So he’s a combo of Delpit, Adams, and Tyrann?? Sign me up!

You can also see shades of Laron Landry, Chad Jones, and he may have the cerebral capacity to hold the defense together like Brandon Taylor.

Not sure how you missed the idiosyncrasies that are almost identical to Ronnie Lott and Ed reed
