Steele main objective is to stay within the Alabama retirement system to collect full benefits once he retires.
People post this every time Steele’s name is mentioned in connection with a job. How many years does this dude have left until retirement by now?

Based on his wkik bio, looks like he has 9 years in RSA.
As Tier 1 he could retire at 60 years old with 10 years. You basically get 2% of you salary for each year of service, and its based on the avg of the 3 highest years out of your last 10 years. If you leave before 10 years you have to cash out and you lose the employer match, so its a pretty big deal with a high paying salary. If the new Auburn coach doesn't retain him I would think Saban or another state school would find a place for him in 2021, especially since he already has his top 3 paying years the past 3 years. Technically he could be on the shadow staff at UA for $30K and it would not affect his final retirement salary.

That probably speeded up the firing

Ironic, since I’m sure his continuous hot seat rumors contributed to the difficulties in recruiting. He’s never been an amazing recruiter, but he’s been better than this.

We need at least 2 more OL before we get another RB.
