So all we need to do is build a complete new campus and move Tigerland down the road closer. well that should be easy. how bout we just start with making sure the athletic facilities, dorms, and education center where the smart kids do the athletes work is comfortable. why worry about the looks of classrooms and class buildings that athletes rarely step foot in. If classrooms are good then beef up the kinesiology department and that will cover most athletes. problem solved.
A little upset today, huh?
Let me guess - you're a big Brian Harsin fan, right?

Athletics donates money all the time to the academic side. I find it hard to believe LA Tech has a nicer campus than LSU. I've been to several in the SEC and while LSU isn't the best campus overall, it's not like it's worlds behind either. OP makes it sound like everything on campus is falling to pieces. There's a few areas that can use some work but it's not as bad as he claims. Academics are not the athletic department's responsibility but they still commit money there.

I toured Bama with my oldest. Bama was offering a near full academic scholly. Bama has recruited heavily out of state academically with the goal of increasing its donor and alumni footprint beyond just Alabama and into job markets in Texas and Atlanta. They’ve increased their enrollment significantly in this area. My kid ultimately chose full scholly at LSU because closer to home. OP is right that Bama has invested heavily in new campus buildings and facilities which while not a major part of athletic recruitment can be a factor all other things being equal. As much as I don’t care for their football team, it’s a campus and school that has a vibe of prosperity and heading the right direction now.

To that point, everyone on here that's providing input should make sure to donate, consistently, to the school. Construction is happening, but does take...money. We know that the state has for the past 12-15 years funneled money out of higher education.

Hmm. Installing razor wire might be on the table soon if this town doesn't start putting down the trash element....

A lot of bureaucracy when it comes to campus wide construction and maintenance and you are at the mercy of the legislature

You mean Tuscaloosa is no longer a dump? When did that happen?
