Trinity Thomas, a senior elite and US National team member was on campus this weekend.

trinity is one of the top gymnasts in the country and her talent capable of reaching an event such as the Olympics. This year she finished 4th in the all around at the P&g championships

LSU in one of the finalists for trinity

A pickup of a talent like her would be a major impact for this team. She can truly do it all, vault, bars, beam, and floor

She was at the worlds selection camps a month back

here are some clips of her

Bars Routine

Beam Routine

I will update more when i learn something

Other major schools recruiting Trinity include OU, Florida, Utah, Denver, Michigan, Alabama and UCLA

Our facility surely has to be something that stands out on visits. I'm not sure what Florida's or OU's look like, though.

Another thing that someone like this has to be curious about is how much OU will dumb down her routines. At least at LSU, DD is not afraid of difficulty.

Nothing personal but are you a chick?

You seem to hate LSU football but know softball, gymnastics and every other chick sport.

Not complaining because I follow them also and enjoy your information on sports nobody else covers or reports on.

Cool man, I really do appreciate the information you provide. I follow women's basketball more than men's and love me some softball.

Thank you very much for the information you give us.

Here's one we gotta lock up and keep from going to OU. We need girls like this so DD can get them coached up and we can finally take OU down.

Always man!

So this summer, three coaches from SEC schools (anonymously) submitted a proposal for the NCAA to require teams to up the difficult to earn a 10.0 start value. I can bet 1000000% DD would be one of them, as well as Florida coach.

Its ridiculously easy for people to have a 10.0 start value now. You can literally just walk across a beam and still have a 10.0 value

LSU does more difficulty than essentially anyone else. LSU leads the nation in difficulty on vault, beam and floor. We are 3rd on bars.

Florida and Bama also are in the mix.

UCLA who I dislike, I have to respect that they do put out really difficult routines like LSU.

OU essentially does routines that are ridiculously basic and easy for someone at this level. Most beam routines specifically are a joke. There is ZERO rhythm of flow to them and its never deducted for whatever reason.

I think thats why as of late a lot of coaches around the country are a bit irritated with OU. Don't get me wrong, they are fantastic but they do ridiculously easy routines for a college level routine

You look at the scoring OU receives its a joke too, and this occurs every year.

I am hopeful we can finally win it soon, possibly this year.

Why don't the other schools tone down their routines to similar to Oklahoma if they are not getting any benefit from the more difficult?

Tigerbait357 - I asked you about her visit in the happy birthday Ashleigh thread.

It seems to me she is more fascinated by UCLA than team rudi. I think it has been down to LSU and UCLA for a while. UCLA obviously gets all the elites, so it wouldn't shock me at all for her to go to the same school as her friends.

Also, do you know if LSU really plans to not have any signees for 2018? That is scary to me, even with a huge freshman class brought in this year. I know Christina came in a year early, but I thought they would get one more commit with 4 seniors graduating.

UCLA is a popular choice for elite athletes because that's where a lot of former Olympians and their friends go. The hot reason people go there is because of the celebrity life as a gymnast there.

It's sad to say but most are there enjoying the benefits of award shows and other special events rather than being fully concerned with winning a national title. Which is why UCLA hasn't been as close as of late.

The talent there is incredible but they always seem to underachieve with what they have.

Trinity is very very very good friends with the girls committed to lsu. Elena Arenas, Olivia Dunne,Haleigh Bryant are all really close.

LSU is definitely has a shot but ucla already has a bunch of elite gymnasts committed to them.

As far as the 2018 class no we don't have any signed with us at the moment. Desiderio would have but she came a year early.

The main losses will be hambrick and macadaeg.

I don't expect to hear anything right now but I imagine lsu will try to pick up a top flight transfer in the spring

LSU will be fine. This freshman class will contribute a lot this year

That's the thing. LSU gets a lot of major scores due to doing high level of difficulty and lsu does it extremely well.

The benefits of going above and beyond results in judging that is not as strict, or more linenant I should say.

I met two NCAA judges in the super six final this year and they told me the reward teams more who do more difficulty. LSU has the athletes to do this and we are very consistent so I think it works.

The issue IMO is OU does bare minimum and is hardly slapped with any type of deductions.

I think the reality is it's way to easy for everyone to have a 10.0 start value. College gymnastics would be a lot more exciting if it required more difficulty, this is where you truly can distinguish between good and great teams IMO

Would this have to be a graduate transfer like in basketball or does gymnastics have more leniency for transfers and not require they sit out a year?

There must be several non scholarship gymnasts on the current team as there are 18 on the roster and teams are limited to 12 scholarships.

LSU is pushing hard, but I'd' be surprised if Trinity does not end up at UCLA.

LSU has a Louisiana walk on committed for2018.

Do you have any sources?

UCLA has 5 ladies committed for next years class, suppose to add 3 for this year

I heard a rumor Molly Frack scholly was pulled, she suffered a major back injury and was out for a while. Not sure if its 100% true but thats what I have heard.

That would leave next years class with 3 people

Bailey Ferrer
Kai Rivers
Caitlin Smith

Which walk on are you referring to btw ?

If Trinity is all about that celebrity life than I am sure UCLA will be a lock

A little birdy today told me her parents liked LSU more than UCLA

Trinity social media also seems to indicate she follows LSU a lot more compared to UCLA.

Lock her up DD!!

Different little birdies don't always tweet the same tune. I really hope yours are right.

The walk on is from Louisiana.

I hope I can post this without getting badgered for pics.....

My sister was a national team member for years as well as my cousin. I traveled with them all over. I know almost essentially the entire elite community, between gymnasts and coaches.

I know a lot of the gymnasts extremely well such as people like Maggie Nichols, Madison Kocian and etc....
I even know most the coaches from most prestigious gyms across the country.

Most Trinity friends are at ucla. Her family love the academic side of ucla and what the school offers. They also love the family atmosphere here at lsu and top notch facilities which are one of the best in the world.

Nothing is a stick for sure but lsu definitely has a chance from what I hear.

Let's all hope she is in purple and gold soon!
