She’s on campus and has been for a bit. LSU reached out and tried grabbing her pretty quickly before everything started coming out which is the awkward situation. Idk if any papers have been signed though… if they were signed, not sure how you exactly get out of that. Not an expert on those rules

Yea, wondering if we will still have our asst coach and volunteer coach after this season. I feel like ckc will be fired and they will go home. Maybe we can get Miya if they leave.

As a POC fan of LSU, I can understand where people’s frustration with AJ being at LSU comes from, especially those who are at UCLA or are directly connected to the situation, and I can see the case against having her part of the program. However, being a POC, I feel like I have the grounds to stand on when I say this: As long as the POC (black and asian) at LSU on the team know the full extent of the situation from the UCLA girls (Alexis included), the decision to add her to the team or not, ultimately in my opinion, should be theirs and theirs alone to make, as long as Jay is on board with whatever they want to do. They are the ones most impacted by all of this and should have the most say in the decision. Everything else from the gymternet and internet trolls who have always been and will always continue to be nothing but LSU haters, should not matter in the grand scheme of things as well as the decision they make is one they make together according to their own personal values and understanding of the situation. If they decide that what happened is not ok and won’t stand for it, then fine: don’t let AJ be involved in the program in any way (or do as a manager or whatever they feel comfortable with). If they decide that they don’t care what happened or want to give her an opportunity to learn, grow and be better rather than dwelling on her past transgressions at UCLA, as long as she agrees to do the work needed to learn, grow and be better, then fine: let her on the team. At the end of the day though, it should be a decision that only they can make not just for her, for the team but also for themselves since they’re the ones who are going to be most impacted by it regardless of what they choose and all we can do as fans is protect them and support that decision, no matter what the response is. We know we’re going to get hate no matter what so might as well just continue to stay in our purple zone, worry about ourselves and do our best to first love, hear and learn before we judge

I saw Kai just started following Jeffrey on social media.

LSU and UCLA have a lot of gymnasts that are close with one another. I find it hard to believe they didnt get information between the athletes talking. UCLA coach legally can't say anything now (publicly) that Jeffrey is gone.

One proposal I saw was mentioned redshirting Jeffrey for a year and prove that she has learned from the past and improve her character before ever putting a routine out there. If she does she can be part of whatever program, if not hit the road. That seemed like a popular consensus for her to join any program.

The coach will be gone after this season, zero doubt in my mind.

Well if Kai and the others are following her, I’m going to assume they know something everyone else doesn’t. Or maybe they just believe in forgiveness and not letting 1 decision ruin this 18 year old. People won’t ever learn if others won’t teach them. Also would this year be her red shirt or would that be the 23 season?

That was a beautifully well reasoned response. We need more people like you in the world.

Totally agree with you. As a woman of color as well, I am one that’s not quick to rush to judgment. I believe in showing people grace and mercy. However, with that being said, I don’t think she should have a scholarship. She would be welcome to walk on only after she sits out this year and receive some racial/unconscious bias training.

If I can play devil's advocate: That sounds good but it also puts pressure on them to say "yes". They know she's friends with girls on the team and they know coach wouldn't consider her if he didn't think she would be a talented addition. It's not the same pressure to go along and get over it that allegedly was placed on UCLA's gymnasts but it is some.

Not to change the discussion, because it’s very relevant and needed, but was anyone else just massively impressed with KJ on beam? She’s just a few tweaks away from scoring 9.90 there as well! She’s going to be a beast in the future!

KJ is a terrific talent, just needs to develop confidence. They say that is what she struggles with the most, the talent is there.

Obviously getting Aleah in the lineups will improve us immensely but I hope to eventually get Dunne in on floor. That is a routine I really enjoyed.

Kai is looking great across the board as well. For a kid coming off an achilles injury, she doesnt look like she missed a beat.

At what point do this cancellations really hurt us for the post season and is there something in place by the NCAA to address the situation. One more and we’re going to be in a binding trying to get our RQS scores high enough.

They will probably have to adjust the RQS scoring requirements if meets continue to get canceled/postponed.

With all of the vituperative language on gymternet(California good- Louisiana bad), do you or anyone know what exactly happened other than from the mother of a non-UCLA gymnast or a black female comedian? Jeffrey looks like a fish out of water, an 18 year old from Missouri amongst people from Cali, Canada and the east coast. She apparently was scoring as good as or better than her accusers.

To be fair, I’m seeing both UCLA (coaches and administration) bad and LSU bad. Now if it’s true that AJ is on the team, it’s going to be UCLA bad, LSU every adjective in the book bad. It’s already starting after AJ was spotted at the intrasquad. Just the PR we don’t need.

As far as the truth, I don’t know what to believe. But if the truth is that she was singing offensive lyrics along with others, that, to me, is so much different that the narrative out there that she was throwing around racial slurs or racial comments towards her teammates. The song scenario sounds forgiveable, a life lesson to learn. I do hope that the truth will come out, although LSU will end up being the bad guy either way.
