Bama gets a special bump for some reason.
Rivals was started by a Bama fan, Shannon Terry. Technically, he "left" Rivals in late April this year.
LINK
Then Bobby Burton left Rivals in August:
quote:
Burton, as part of his exit, has a noncompete clause of undisclosed length. Terry’s runs until next spring, and at some point, the pair intends to return to digital sports media, though precisely how and when are undetermined.
“We’ve made a pretty good team thus far, and we see no reason to break it up,” Burton said.
In the meantime, Burton and Terry have invested in a small barbecue restaurant near Rivals.com’s suburban Nashville base.
Because it's only natural that multi-millionaires need to have a BBQ shack close to the place they used to work.

Don't worry the team that beat ALABAMA in the Sugar Bowl was ranked 55th in 2009 and are ranked 60th at this time.
And I don't think TCU's had a class higher than #40 EVER... They're not doing to shabby either. It's all about what you do with the talent once you've got it.

No, it's not ALL about that, but it is a significant chunk.
Would anyone like to take Utah over Bama in a best of five series that year?

We have a good group -- with Wright, Lache, Ego, Mosses, Fobbs we will go to top 5 -- which means as good as anyone in the country.

If Mosses is Morgan Moses (OT) isn't he already committed to Virginia?
Also regarding the other two
Do you have some insider info here or power of positive and optimistic thinking ?

We'll probably get Wright
Fobbs is likely hearing hes our only true slot receiver in this class...hes gotta like that
Ego is hard to get a good read on but we're in pretty good position with him
I don't think anyone knows what LS is thinking but I see us as third right now due to taking Gore/Blue. Gore is more telling the staff wasn't confident in landing him
Mosses...hasn't shown enough interest in us to think hes coming here. He skipped his visit to us the other day...

Gibson would be a Rivals 250 ATH
Blue would be a Rivals 100 RB
Muncie and Welter would be being hailed as LB's with great high school accolades and "very high ceilings" both 4 stars
There is no way Porter loses his fourth star
Zach Lee would be the number 1 QB in the nation (Which he possibly is) and pushing for a fifth star in the top 50.
Hunter would be a rivals 100 guy (which he should be)
Damn, good list. Maclin would be up in the top-100 too. I figure one of Muncie/Welter would be 4* Milliner is definitely a 5* athlete.. but I question his rating at CB.. big time.
Compare Sam Gibson to Nick Perry for a good example. Or compare him to Blake Sims..

Blake Sims is on a whole other level compared to Gibson. He is probably the best player in Georgia and grossly underratted, but thanks for playing.

Rivals lists 41 other Georgia prospects as better than him. Surely they're not that wrong. It does happen from time to time.. Claiborne for example.
TBH I just looked at 'measurables' when comparing him to Sims/Perry and Gibson is a specimen.

Sims is a good athlete but is nowhere near the best player in Georgia. He'd be lucky to be top 20.

recruiting = overrated
Boise, TCU, Cincy.. all these programs have top 5 recruiting classes every year? no. it's important to get good athletes and good teammates, but recruiting rankings are far too subjective to use as a judgment of a team's future success. schools that recruit in the top 5 every year win with those recruits because of coaching, not raw talent.

I think you're understimating the effect of shedules.
Even the best coaching won't survive in the SEC if you don't have the horses. To be elite, you have to have good recruiting and good coaching. There's a pretty good correlation over history of top 5-10 recruiting rankings among the schools competing for national championships.

I thought the alabama influence on rivals would stop once yahoo bout them out?

Apart from the top 2 or 3 guys Yahoo has retained almost the entire Rivals staff and their content providers(individual college site content producers).
Therefore there is a very high chance that if we acknowledge the bias in Rivals then some amount of bias will be there due to the remaining folks at Yahoo as well.

These guys have HORRIBLE offer lists.
Smith and Bonds are the only two impressive lists of all those links.
There is about a 1% chance Smith's UF offer is legit and the only other really impressive offer he has is tOSU.
Bonds has a very noticeable lack of quality SEC offers for a kid from S. Car. Notre Dame offer is not impressive this year because of the general shittiness of their program and the coaching debacle. USC offer is impressive, if legit
So, thanks for proving my point?

I think his point was that they were 3* players with decent offer lists
