Didn’t sound like it would happen today. He said they are going to sit down for another conversation to go over everything. I’d guess that happens in next day or 2 and then decision comes

Well damn. Doesn't sound like it'll be today. Still hopeful.

Little bit of an aside comment but is Cisse and LSU basketball recruiting related.

When I went to the Eli Savoie tweet, I noticed there was a tweet from Mike Miller issuing a statement yesterday that he is leaving Penny's staff at Memphis. When Penny was first hired and put together his staff, Miller was lauded as an outstanding get and hire for Penny. I also read in an article on Cisse the other day that Miller could play a role in his recruitment since it is a consensus that Cisse needs to work on developing a shot and that Miller is considered a great developer in that area of the game.

This could also be big as it seems ever since Penny's arrival, LSU and Memphis have had some pretty big head-to-head recruiting battles. Just thought I'd share.

I definitely think the Miller news hurts Memphis. I think FSU is the one to worry about and don’t think for a second Cal isn’t trying to run with this Dickie V crap.

Memphis has a total dud of a recruiting class, they had to go out and get some transfers, they landed no high school kids and a meh JUCO kid. They really striked out big time in helping to find replacements for Achiuwa, Wiseman and Harris who transferred out (they had another player transfer out as well, and 1 senior who graduated). They really need DJ Jeffries to be an all-star next year for them if they probably are to get in the tournament.

I wonder if Mike Miller was asked to leave in any capacity because the recruiting got so bad, I figured Penny and him would hit big early but the past couple seasons havent been great for them and I think that shine wore off a bit.

And from what I’ve seen and heard, Miller was loved by recruits. Let’s face it, Penny made an early splash in recruiting because of the kids he was bringing in for his aau team. That’s how he got Wiseman. Got him in the summer and then go him transferred in to the high school that he was at. I’m still not sure how great of a coach Penny is.

Some NBA dates just announced.

Draft Lottery August 25
NBA Draft October 15

Just to help give a timeline on Watford's decision. I think the deadline is typically a month before the draft, but I may be wrong. Obviously that timeline could be different this year.

I certainly hope that the deadline is set a lot earlier than 1 month before in this case. Sept. 15th is way too late a date to have college team rosters up in the air as they prepare for the coming season, which is set to begin like 7-8 weeks after that date.

I thought this myself. Guessing we will know before then because of classes starting back up.

I would think and hope that it should largely depend on if and when the open workouts would be allowed to start up. It is hard to ask a kid to make a decision if he never really got a chance to have teams see him in person for workouts and to hear some feedback on what his prospects are. But I'll be the first to admit that I'm nowhere close to being an expert on the NBA or their draft process.

Absolutely nuts. Some schools are considering starting early in August, so that would mean the 2019-2020 season draft will be going on a month before the 2020-2021 college season starting. I feel like the NBA and NCAA will come to some agreement to have decisions final by the start of the fall semester.

More clarity on withdrawal deadline

quote:

The NCAA says draft prospects have until 10 days after the NBA draft combine or Aug. 3, whichever comes first, to withdraw from the postponed 2020 draft.

It is; but a lot better than Sept. 15th being the deadline.

Wade said the players aren't reporting till the end of this month anyway; so at worst if Watford, Days, and Smart choose to stay in the draft and working with their own trainers, they will only lose a month with the team should they decide to come back. Hopefully Days and Smart at the very least will just make a call by the end of this month and report with the rest of the team to campus. Watford would be great to, but could definitely see him taking it right up to the deadline.

Days and smart will 100% be back and i wouldn’t be surprised if this is known already by wade, Watford is genuinely undecided but I think he comes back fwiw
