i think its more of him meeting admission requirements as opposed to trouble graduating.

Point taken. Jamie really had no buisiness at a facility of higher education.
Trent obviously wouldn't even attempt to walk that line. But Brady did, multiple times, and I think Bullet would.
Heck, I think he's doing it with the Iowa St. transfer.

Some random noise on a division II message board about Odoh having academic problems and perhaps going the DII route. I would assume he had looked into the possibility as a backup plan if he doesn't complete his summer coursework.
The chatter starts on Page 22 and continues. They go from adamantly saying that he is heading to Southern Illinois, to saying he is heading to LSU:

I talked to a source very close to the team this past weekend. The Odoh situation is very much alive. People have to remember that the rules for a Juco transfer to DI are very different than that of DII. For DI a Juco transfer needs to have their Associate Degree, for DII the student/athlete needs to have completed a certain amount of hours to show they are still on pace to graduate. If the student is falling short of the degree that takes them out of the running for DI schools. It seems that this could be the issue with Odoh. Considering the schools that are/have been in the running for this guy he would be a HUGE, no pun intended, pick-up for USI and would have an immediate impact in the conference!
quote:
Even with the two classes he is completing now Odoh will not have enough hours to complete his Associate degree. With the hours he will complete the rest of the summer it will be just enough to be eligible for DII. Odoh will be on our campus when classes start in the fall and he will be a much needed addition to our frontline.

I have also heard rumors that John Odoh is now headed to LSU. How a student goes from telling a prospective coach that he will not have enough credits to earn an Associate's degree, even with all of his summer courses, to mysteriously having enough hours is a mystery to me. Seems like the student would have a better idea about his credits than his coach would but now his coach says he has enough to go DI. This will be an interesting story to follow. Even though we need a big guy in the worst way sometimes there are way to many hands involved with an International player.

I also missed this article from a couple of weeks ago from the Times-Pic:

Johnny Jones has had a busy two months as the new LSU men's basketball coach. He's signed five recruits and assembled (and re-assembled) a coaching staff.
But according to Jones, he still has plenty of work to do before the season begins.
"(We're) hoping that we could hopefully beef up inside," he said. "We lost some key guys inside last year from Storm Warren and Malcolm White along with Justin Hamilton and we have to make sure--especially playing in this league--we're bigger somewhat in size."
Jones has signed a point guard, two shooting guards and two small forwards since coming to LSU. The biggest player he's signed is 6-feet-8, 240 pound small forward Calvin Godfrey.
"We have not answered those questions yet and we look forward to hopefully having a couple of late signees and maybe one that will help us answer those questions," Jones said.

Looks like the two signees he is referring to could be Odoh and Carmouche.
I assumed Carmouche was out of the picture with the Collins signing, but apparently not.

If Odoh does not complete enough course work this summer, will he be able to continue to pursue an Associate Degree and enter LSU in January?

Just read on ESPN (behind a paywall) that Odoh won't graduate until December.

For those of you who have insider, that's the link.
Here's the question, if LSU can take him (don't see why they wouldn't be able to, but I'm not sure), do you? Or do you take a graduate transfer?
Frankly, don't know of any GOOD graduate transfers out there. Coastal Carolina had one but he wound up at (I believe) Illinois.

If true, that's not good at all. However, I doubt it's a surprise to LSU. I'm sure Johnny has a contingency plan.
