Priester had more power than Frey
Frey had a shoulder injury and Priester was a 21 year old in a shitty JUCO league that bulked up his home run totals in a small number of games against the worst teams on their schedule.

Project, What are thoughts on Noot and Shores who will still have leverage after redshirting last year?
Shores will get paid. Noot could probably increase his stock coming back, but a team could also pay him $300k and put him on a track to start games in low A next year. And that would be difficult to turn down.

Really just all depends on what an MLB team ultimately offers him for a signing bonus; if it's high six figures or greater, he should probably sign. If its mid to low six figures, we can get very competitive with NIL and perhaps get him to stay and promise to put him in the field.
I've seen him recently crack a few Top 150 lists. Last year, guys with leverage picked around there were signing for north of $400,000. One even cracked $600,000 (pick 150). In know we've got most teams beat when it comes to NIL, but I don't think we're throwing that kind of money around for one season. Maybe to a guy like William Schmidt spread out over three years, but not for one year.

Rumors are that Larson will enter the portal. Frey will leave if drafted by the 12th round range. A couple of big names have been advised (not by staff) to enter the portal. I don’t know why they would but we will have to see. JJ is telling a couple of players that hey this is your position next year while in the same time recruiting portal guys to take the same positions. There is one big name that LSU has been after for a while but he hasn’t entered the portal yet. Been offered a pretty nice NIL. And no I’m not naming names

People that are still playing for this team are already being told to hit the portal once the season is done?

Really do not want him to leave. Very talented player.
The fact that he could have a couple of pathways to the field next season works in our favor. It will be easy for Jay to sell him on that, I think.

Happens to every team. We do it, too.

Well there’s only 16 teams left, but I get your point.
Just find it hard to believe that starters/key contributors are being told to hit the road before we start supers in a few days.
ETA: Unless “big names” are just that and not actually good players. Ie cam Johnson from last season.

Many disagree, but I would not get my hopes up on Frey if he continues to hit like he has. He may get drafted higher than Bear.
His lack of positional experience is not working in his favor there. He would do a LOT better proving he can also man 1st for a season before leaving.

No he won't. His bat will get him drafted.
It may get him drafted, but you are crazy if you don’t think he will go a good bit higher hitting as well or better and proving that he’s serious about defense.

He specifically said "not by staff" which means it's the players advisors telling them to test the market.
Which I find to be shortsighted on the part of the advisors. It seems like a good way to burn a relationship with a coach controlling some of the larger purse strings in the country.

He's a fluid athlete. He doesn't need to stand out in left field for 60 college games to tell the pros anything more than they can already discern.

Is it the freshman TCU outfielder? If so, he announced he was staying at TCU today.

I get that you don't want to sit on the bench but of the position players that are entering the portal, there was not a single hit this season between all of them...and the pitcher had an era of 5.40 in non-conference games. It is not unusual for players who are left off the postseason roster to decide to leave. Sometimes the grass is not greener on the other side. If you are good, wait your time, earn your spot next year.

Frey can also do a lot of things around the field. First, OF, Catcher.
Has he played catcher in a game since high school? I am not sure I have seen him play first, except maybe in a scrimmage. He's barely played OF. I'm a huge fan of his. We all know he's athletic and can crush the ball. On Mik'd up he said he still works on his defense even though he doesn't play, but it sounded like he only works on outfield.

Yes. He can still do those things and be successful.
