Where do you guys think
Holman fits in the rotation? Sunday guy?
If I calculated it correctly it looks like he had a 4.59 ERA in SEC play last year. It looks like he either did really well or completely shite the bed

UK 9.0 ERA
ARK 6.75 ERA
MSST 1.59 ERA
AUB 5.4 ERA
Mizzou 2.25 ERA
Vandy 2.57 ERA
TAM 12.46
OM 1.35
UF 3.18
24/44 BB/SO

The UK and TAM game really skewed his numbers.

It depends on who the other starters are. I would imagine one will be Hurd.

If he stays consistent Hurd is the Friday night starter. Holman is a solid #2 or one of the best #3’s in the league imo.

I hope both Jump and Loer are nice surprises!

I’m really big on Jump, think he’s gonna be damn good. I can see him starting midweek but becoming our Sunday starter.

If we do get Holman that competition for that 3rd starter spot will be exciting to follow.

I think we are in trouble if Holman is our Friday night guy. Really hoping Hurd can step up in that spot and the best man wins out of Loer and Holman for Sat.

You are basing that off your study of stats.

Go study Hurd's stats from this past year as if you never actually watched him pitch or see him improve and come back with just using that data from the season.

Hurd has the higher potential but Holman isn't far behind. Saying we would be in trouble based on using his stats as your opinion is a stretch.

No kidding. Gage Jump, Griffin Herring, Cameron Johnson, Loer, and Little will all try to push for it. Jay went with Shores on Sundays to start the season, wonder if he changes that mindset up to lower the stress on the arms of the freshmen.

Holman was, if not the ace, the 1b or 1c of the collegiate national team this summer.

Holman was a easily one of the 10 best pitchers in the conference last year. I’m not sure why people don’t think he could be the Friday guy.

Holman is a very solid to plus Saturday arm especially if you are getting Hurd's potential.

He doesn't have any crazy spin rate with his breaking balls and his fastball isn't 95 + but he's very hard to hit from his arm angle.

It’s not just my opinion. Hunt said the same thing.

I would be really really excited to get Holman. He’s a great pitcher who obviously has lots of potential but you have to compare him to other Friday night guys in the SEC. Based off of the information we currently have I believe we would be in a better position with someone better than Holman. Doesn’t seem like a stretch to me

Holman can be a Friday guy. It depends on Hurd. I just have really high expectations of Hurd. Hurd will likely start on Friday, Holman would be Saturday if he comes here, then a slew of a few others to earn Sunday. That could obviously change depending on performance. It's just clear these are the two proven guys right now. Hurd finished very strong to close the year.

At their best, both Hurd and Holman could be 1st round picks. It is far too early to tell, but Holman has much more starting SEC experience than Hurd does at this point. I'm sorry to have offended anyone that thinks Holman is a Saturday or Sunday arm. I stand by it, though. He's really good. Friday night good.

not offended here. I agree he has Friday night potential for sure. I think Hurd's stuff is a tick better that's why for our rotation specifically I would have him as a Saturday guy but could both be Friday guys like you said.

Honestly the way the staff is shaping up we will be in good shape regardless of the order of the rotation.

Both Hurd and Holman have the capability of holding their own on Friday night. You said we would be in a better position with someone else but who else is there? Another Skenes isn't coming around. Nobody else in the portal to go to better than Holman.

Summer stats for Collegiate Team USA:
Chinese-Taipai: 3IP 5K/1BB 3H 0R 0ER

Japan: 5IP 10K/1BB 2H 0R 0ER

No other pitcher on team USA had those type of numbers against Chinese-Taipai and Japan.

You and Hunt can have the same opinion about it but I still say it is a stretch to say LSU is in trouble with Holman on Friday nights. Of course, it is fine to disagree. To each their own right.
