The PC is happening. Leah Vann is live tweeting it, but it's not on Youtube right now either. Hopefully someone posts it when it's over.

He fit a whole lot into a 30 minute interview. Very impressive, and I will not try to provide cliffs but it was a home run, what you want to hear interview. The guy is detailed and intentional.

Here are the things that I was looking to hear more about:

He mentioned Fontenot, Coleman, Cooper, and Hilliard when asked about starters. He didn't rule anybody out, though, and does believe this staff will be a committee approach.

He mentioned Cade Doughty as the best on the offensive charts, which is not really a surprise. The next name he mentioned was Cade Beloso - made some adjustments and thrived - this is interesting.

He said the roster is where he wants it to be. He didn't commit to anybody staying or going, though, so I guess that will just play itself out.

Health is of little concern to him, but some guys might not be ready for day 1. This could mean the medical redshirts, but makes you wonder a bit about guys that played sparingly in the fall.

And I really thought Beloso was not making the roster next year

We may still be recruiting from the HS ranks for the 2022 class. I don't know how serious the interest on either side is at this time, but former Tulane commit Luke Hill from Episcopal is on the radar.

Just curious about Hill. Any word on why he didn't sign with Tulane?

I don't have any info on that. I don't really know a ton about him since.

2026. I can't help but chuckle how far out they project these kids. Bubba is barely a teenager. Lol.

Project,

This may be bit out of the box but I'm curious why we don't see any recruiting outside the states. Certainly there are very talented players in Puerto Rico, Panama, etc. That would like to have a LSU experience and education. Is it just lack of recruiting funds?

We had a commit from Puerto Rico several years ago. He was the son of a Major Leaguer. I can't remember the name off hand but for some reason Jesmuel Valentin stands out, but that wouldn't have been his name as a recruit. I would guess it's a connections thing really. The coach at FIU and some of his old assistants that are now head coaches at other places really recruit PR hard. Some of the Florida JUCOs do as well. They fall under the draft (like Canada) so it would be easier to recruit them.

Daniel Espino was from Panama but played HS ball in Georgia. That's really the only way we would get kids from any of the other Caribbean or Central American countries. Those guys all fall under MLB international rules and can sign with a club at 16. That takes most of them out of the pool of players. Unless, like Espino, they get scooped up by an American baseball academy and establish residency here and go through the draft process. Some JUCOs, D2, and NAIA schools can still get guys from like the Domican and such after they play pro ball. I don't know the exact rules, but they can't have played too much and maybe not played in the states. So a kid that only played in the Dominican Complex League but was released after a couple seasons could still end up at a D2 school.

Miguel Cairo's kid played HS in Florida.

Jesmuel Valentin, Jose Valentin's son, who at the time was known as Jose Valentin when he was committed to LSU.
