Another portal arm to watch, LHP Sean Sullivan, Northwestern (Big 10)

Whenever you say they are name your watch, does it mean we are pursuing them?

At least in contact with

Numbers look really good and funky arm angle

Drew Conover, Seton HalL
2022 stats… 2-2 with a 6.28 era
28.2 innings with 23 walks and 26 hits.
Didn’t need that guy at all

Project where is Skenes going?
Posted on 6/8/22 at 6:33 pm to Datsmoneydude
I saw something where his last 17 innings was a 0.64 ERA so probably has some decent stuff. Cape is not taking scrubs but I get your point obviously.

His 2022 stats are:
2-2 5.73 ERA
33 IP
28 H
25 BB
43 SO
Control obviously an issue but his frame, the strikeout numbers, and the fact he’s going to the cape says there’s some stuff there to work with. We didn’t take Reyzelman based on his stats at San Francisco.

I think we have a good shot at Skenes, simply because Crews and Berry played with him on Team USA. I know Berry is leaving but that's still 2 mouths that can help secure the package. I think Morgan was with Team USA briefly, too.

Really? Just looking at his stats nothing really jumps off the page.
5+ ERA 1.39 WHIP against a pretty weak schedule.

Freshman pitcher of the year in the AAC last year. Freshman all-american. 8-1 with a sub 3 era. 2 time Gatorade player of the year in Kansas in high school.
Then, look at how deep he can take games. Wichita St was trash this year, so stay away from his stats bc this year was a mess. He also went to the pen at the end of the year, which was new to him...they started trying to use him as the quick hook guy...again, it was a mess.
He really just needs to work on the walks, which sometimes takes care of itself when you upgrade teams.

More Ks than innings pitched. 3:1 K:BB, very few HBP, very few WP. So he stays around the zone. He gets deep into games, has experience going over 100 pitches per game. Over 20 career starts. There is a lot to like.

Guy can eat up innings. Exactly what this team could use
Posted on 6/8/22 at 8:51 pm to ProjectP2294
Right. A guy that really doesn't need a lot of development. Plug and play. Do your thing. But, also a guy that could really evolve (not the same as develop) with good coaching and a good team around him.

Just looking at someone stats isn’t always a great indicator of how they can contribute. Context is important sometimes.

Are you thinking Skenes would be a two way guy here?
Posted on 6/8/22 at 9:36 pm to UpToPar
Worth considering. It's not easy to do that as a catcher, even though that's become more of a thing...especially at the high school and below level. Catch a game, then throw 100 pitches or vice versa. They'd have to figure out how to manage it if they brought him in to be a weekend starter.
