I agree. Travinski is going to transition to a 1B/DH/RF.

The outfield is now all about set with Hampton Jr., DiGiacomo, Crews with Toups and Drost the first off the bench.

Is Drost definitely a position player? I’ve seen him listed as a pitcher

He's alot like Cabrera coming out in that he was needed to do both but his fastball hasn't ever really topped out at more than 88-89mph that I've seen.

He's a prototypical RF at the college game with a left handed bat, above average power, and great arm. He could actually be one to shift Crews to LF or CF down the road. I do think for now he'll focus on being a position player unless there's an obvious log jam and his bat isn't producing.

Mason Auer, the RHP/INF from Missouri State that LSU is recruiting, will transfer to San Jac for this upcoming season. He had been looking at LSU, Arkansas, and Wichita St. The NCAA not giving the blanket waiver for transfers, combined with draft eligibility out of JUCO, are probably why he didn't transfer to another 4 year.

My guess is we will continue to recruit him. He's a mid-90s arm and can play almost anywhere defensively.

I wouldn't automatically put Crews ahead of Drost. Watched both those boys play last summer against my son's teams. Crews has a lot of tools but so does Drost.....Drost can play...power, big arm, just a good baseball player.

I’m not. Drost is the second best bat in this class but Crews is in another league. Both are all sec material one day.

Is Josh Stevenson related to Andrew Stevenson and is Josh Pearson related to Jacob Pearson? Curious since their last names and hometowns match up

Correct.

Josh Stevenson is Andrews little brother.

Josh Pearson is Jacobs little brother.

Baseball America has out recruiting class ranked number 4 in the country behind Texas, Vanderbilt, and Florida.

Texas will probably lose Jared Jones, Vandy will probably lose Pete Crow-Armstrong, I don't know that Florida will lose anyone to the draft.

ETA: Florida will lose Zac Veen. He will probably be the first HS player taken in the draft.

I was about to say he's probably the first prep bat off the board.

However I know that with Vandy and Florida's luck they’ll get one of those to fall.

We're expected to lose Cabrera and Henry, and perhaps Romo correct? Is there anyone else who might sign?

Definitely Cabrera and Henry. We have a good chance of keeping Romo.

I'm anxious to see if any of our juniors that don't get drafted would take the $20k. Or if we have any juniors that will go underslot to get picked and sign. There are a couple guys I could see doing that.

I think Fontenot is a top 10 round talent, but given another year he could even increase his stock more than he already did in 17 games.

But I could see some guys like Garza, Mathis, or Storz take a hard look if teams are calling in the top 5 rounds to sign because that’ll be their ceilings and a fast route to professional baseball.

Knowing that in a normal draft we would definitely lose Fontenot, Labas, probably Storz, Henry, and then normally wouldn't get George and Beck back, holy hell are bullpens around the SEC going to be loaded.

We might hold onto 2/3 of our weekend rotation and bring in 3 guys that could also pitch on weekends.

Everyone on the rant will think only LSU is going to retain some pretty good players.

I'm really excited. The competition is going to be the best it's ever been.

Project or Adam, my apologies as I'm sure y'all have probably answered this question a million times here; but of the pitchers we have coming in, who do you see as the top arms and how do they compare talent-wise to what we currently have on the roster, including Henry?

Beck Way is the JUCO kid. Highest rated pitcher in the class and definite draft risk (I've seen 2nd round talk for him). He's mid 90s, walked very few in JUCO this season, showed out well in the Cape last summer as well. Even with the shortened season, he was heavily scouted due to JUCO starting early. Additionally, NWFS has a trackman unit, so pro clubs will have all the advanced tool data they would want to make a decision on him. I don't know who he compares to on the roster (for any of them really) because I don't know enough about his pitch repertoire. But he's an impact arm if he gets to campus.

Ty Floyd is the most highly regard HS arm, I think he could be a weekend guy in the future, I think Adam said he looks more like a relief guy. Another low to mid 90s arm, was highly regarded as a two-way player early in his career. Only recently switched to pitcher only. He's more of an upside pick. He's got the raw tools to be really good but has some things to work on.

Blake Money is my personal favorite. Size-wise he would compare to Nick Storz. He's going to look like a TE or DE. He throws hard, but throws strikes. Can work both sides of the plate, has a decent change up and improving curveball. His mentality on the mound is ++. There were write ups on him not getting calls and instead of complaining, just buckling down and getting the strikeout on the next pitch. Just overall great mound presence and mental toughness apparently.

Theo Millas probably has the best experience in the class. He's pitch for Team Canada's 18U team for a couple years. So he's faced international competition (some of which would include pro players). There was an international tournament he pitched in that Crews and Romo also played in, and Panama had a catcher from the Cardinals org (who is around the same age as all these guys but got a cup of coffee in AA last year). He's also faced MLB teams in spring training. So he's used to going against high level talent with a lot of scouts on hand.

It’s definitely a double edge sword. All of the small schools that had a bunch of seniors who are borderline prospects are going to have a huge boost. The teams with a lot of fringe juniors who have no choice but return will get a big boost as well
