Remember verbals are NOT valid!!!

Shepard went on record claiming the Tigers would land one of the three Seminole High School recruits with it more than likely being Debose. And even after Debose's announcement at the Under Armour game Shepard still claimed LSU to be in the mix for the five-star receiver's signature. "I wasn't disappointed with Andre's decision," Shepard claimed. "Right after he made his announcement he came over to me and talked to me about it. I know he still plans on talking to coach Miles and I believe we are still in it for him. It is not over yet."

Verbals are valid, they just aren't binding. There is a difference.

Thanks for the reminder.

But to answer your question... obviously the coaching staff believes there is still some indecision on Debose's side or they wouldn't be making in-homes with him. How much of a chance does LSU have?

I don't buy that. Look at all the Louisiana talent that left this state and now are NFL studs. He can leave his mommy. McFarland and Campbell are the momma's boys who won't get off the tit.

You don't buy that distance is a factor?

Ask Jai Eugene why he's at LSU instead of Michigan. It was the major factor that Perrilloux came to LSU instead of UT. It's also the major reason why LSU is believed to be the leader for Reuben Randle.

Don't forget: Louisiana High School momma's boys make up the backbone of LSU football--thanky you mammas!

Looking back at it, would it have been so bad if each of them would have left?...Im talking about talent, not thugs or want-to-be talent.

I'm not following you here. Talented players are magically not talented because you label them "thugs?" And what is "want-to-be talent?"

I'm just saying..looking back at it RP would have done us some good going to Texas. As for Jai Eugene....I just don't think he's that talented. I think we wants to be but he just doesn't have it. Just like Hawkins....I'm sure he wants to be a tough player...but he isn't.

Point is, Debose seems like smart kid who could handle leaving his mommy for a chance to be a big time player at a big time school. Not saying he can't do that at Florida...but I just hate them bastards

Why? Because they don't come to LSU?

LSU likely wouldn't have had their NC in 2003 if the talented in-state players that anchored that team would have chosen to "leave their mommy for a chance to play at a big time school."

This is true. It definetly is all about the right out of state players coming to LSU. The Amp Hill's, Xavier Carter's of the world just didn't cut it.

Hopefully Randle is going to be a mommas boy...

You should only expect to get the top talent from in your own state when you are dealing with SEC states. Out-of-state kids are just gravy to me. TEXAS and Florida are exceptions because of population and scholly limits, that's why we can spillover.

Then you have players like Shep who are just a blessing!

So

Your reasoning is baffling me. So guys are sniveling mamma's boys if they're out-of-staters stay at home and spurn LSU... but if they're in-state kids, then they need to stay close to home?

All I said was look at the Louisiana players that left the state and are studs in the NFL. I think Debose could be that type of player. The momma's boy knocks are for those players that shunned LSU. I don't want to believe that Debose is a Mamma's boy...YET.

I think he is still a little sour over the way ESPN handled the commitments at the UA game. That was a lot of pressure for those kids from lots of family members in their own home state. Wish that game was held at the dome....

They left the state mainly because LSU was being coached by glorified high school coaches (minus the Mannings who had different motivations).

Florida actually has a proven track record of using a player (Harvin) with Debose's skill set. LSU does not.

I read that he pretty much eliminated Miami, so he must still be considering his options. Remember, it was argued that LSU was out because he elimintaed LSU first during the UA game. However, just this morning ESPN writer said that he has now all nut elimintaed Miami on his blog.

Maybe Debose is waiting to see what RR will do.
