Been following LA recruiting for a long time, but I do not claim to be an expert by no means.

2 questions:

1) Is my observation accurate?

LA always rich in RBs, WRs, D-line

LA occasionally rich in QBs, O-line

LA rarely rich in LBs and TEs

2) Who are in LA's pipeline of potential blue chip type recruits that are LBs and TEs?

Trey'Dez Green out of East Feliciana is the #1 TE in the country for 2024

TEs, sure. LBs? Devin White, Michael Divinity, Micah Baskerville, Patrick queen, Duke Riley, etc etc

Donte Starks could’ve been great, we missed out on A ton of talent to Bama. Chris Allen, Dylan Moses, Tim Williams…

Outside of divinity, the other 3 you named weren't top 100 players at the LB position. and Devin white was a RB. They went on to all find success, but in terms of recruiting out of HS they weren't in the top echelon.

I’d switch LB with QB. Who’s the last great LSU QB(outside of Walker) to come out of Louisiana that went to LSU?

This year is an absolute anomaly with Manning, Holstein, and Collins.

High school offensive priority negates really good athletes from playing lb.

There were a ton of good running backs for lsu that would have been better linebackers.

You clearly didn’t read my entire post.

Baskerville was a 4 star and the #14 linebacker in the country.

Damone Clark was a 4 star and the #20 linebacker in the country

Queen, also a 4 star
And the OPs post is about TALENT, not star gazing.

Tell me how Sampah, James White and Webb, all highly ranked and from outside LA, are doing on the team. Oh wait….

How about Christian Harris and Chris Allen?

Every year is different.

Overall, maybe DL is the best...

The two positions most lacking in LA are SEC caliber quarterbacks and correctly built offensive linemen.

The QB thing may be changing as schools move away from just playing their best athlete at the position.

The OL thing is not likely to change as our gene pool does not really produce the huge white guys with their weight in the right places that make the best players.

ETA: I'm not even counting weird specialists like kickers and long snappers. I don't think they're "common" anywhere.

It’s because the south doesn’t run a QB friendly system in high school. Most of them are duel threat QBs who run the ball first and throw occasionally
