I see whay LSU fans would laugh. But in reality how could you not think that La Techs class isn't impressive this year? Coming off a 5-7 year, the WAC falling apart, and shite for facilities. Yet they are out recruiting Boise right now according to Rivals. 16 3stars compared to Boises 12 3stars. The whole point of the thread was just to say Coach Dykes appears to be a top notch recruiter

wow. 16 *** is pretty impressive for sure.

Can we all just agree that the star system is crap? Tech had one of their best players (D'Anthony Smith) get drafted in the third round last year and he was only a one star when he came to Tech

Lets just say the worst Tech recruit is much better than the smart asses here making insulting, childish remarks about them. How many of you Tech bashers ever play football other than X-Box?

ULM vs Tech recruiting wars.
Awesome
Yep. It took like 5 posts for Tech to be defined in this thread...as being on the ULM level.

I have 3 points to make:
First, this thread is awesome.
Second, no the star system is not crap. It is not definitive but it provides a general guide to talent evaluation. You mention D'Anthony Smith being a one-star recruit who eventually became a third round draft pick...Tech's reference version of "Hester was only a two-star recruit"...Of course, the recruiting sites miss on guys and either underrate or overrate them. However, for every D'Anthony Smith or Jacob Hester there are a bunch of other guys that turn out to be what they were thought to be.
Third, LA Tech is scared to play ULM because they know they could lose and that would just destroy their whole "we are better than them" logic.

And 4th...This thread was not intended to be LT vs ULM. Just to state a QB from Cali committed and Sonny Dykes is doing a good job for La Tech standards...Just wanted to talk a little recruiting......When keepin it real goes wrong I guess

Well back to the subject of the thread title, as a fan of LaTech I am for one excited about this pickup. He is very athletic and smart (1720 SAT). Smarter version of Dwight Dasher who Tony Franklin had at MTSU. Future looks bright.
Posted on 1/23/11 at 11:58 pm to NYTETYME
Yes, a nice pickup for Tech. And I agree...their class is looking good...especially for Tech standards.
Dykes at Tech is recruiting much stronger than Kragthorpe did when he was at Tulsa and Louisville. Fact.

People from Tech kill me. It's like crowning a State Champ in private school basketball when LISA was still around.

Dear God all he did was start a thread about a pretty good QB Tech picked up and it turns in to this shite? You can say Tech people kill you but usually it isn't Tech posters that comes and chimes in with asinine comments to start this my school is better or worse than your school crap.

I have some serious questions about LA Tech recruiting since this thread is devoted to such a discussion. Of Tech's 21 commitments, 11 are JUCO signees. That is an extraordinary number of JUCO players. My questions are:
1) Why the need for so many JUCO signees? I was under the impression that Dooley did a good job of recruiting while at Tech. If that is indeed true then there should not be a need for immediate depth.
2) Do you think signing such a large number of JUCO players is the best way to build and sustain Tech in a long term outlook? The consensus opinion in the recruiting world, of which I also subscribe, is signing mostly JUCO players is not good.
Thoughts?

Dooley had ALOT of non-qualifiers so there is an immediate need for help.
Posted on 1/24/11 at 12:43 pm to bdawg34
A few of these could be non qualifiers. Although, I know that it is hard for any doggy to beliee ULM is signing players tech wanted. Ulm just signed a DE from Ok that tech offered.Apparently the kid had no interest in tech or Ruston.

Everyone is already qualified.
