it seems most of the top programs, including the evil empire, signed a JUCO player or two.

that being said, I would hope that we would step up our recruiting in that area.

We have done pretty well in the past...

We didn't really think we needed any JUCOs this year

yet we fell short of signing our 27 players.

do these carry over to next year? I mean the xtra's we could have signed this year (not the early enrollees next yr)

We should be following top JUCO LBs very closely with the legit/honest offer of immediate PT....if you are good enough to earn it!

THIS x1000.

I know folks are worried about lack of depth at LB, as they should be, but you can get guys in the juco if you're paying attention and get after them. Good ones are physically mature enough to often times provide immediate depth, if not meaningful contributions.

I know MLB can be complicated and making the calls can be hard to grasp right away. But outside OLB or standing DEs don't have that technical learning curve. My point I think its a relatively easy spot to learn what you're supposed to do on each play.

I hope they can find guys to fill in the gap. Or guys that we're eyeing for a position change (white/voorhies, etc) can make it happen.

JUCO LBs can kill it. Would love to get more of those.

I believe you have to average 25 signees over a 4 year span. So in a sense they do carry over

It's a cryin shame what a waste of talent Valentine is. This is why they steered clear of Manuel... Saw the same things coming

Mississippi is juco ground zero. Players all over are even steered there as there must be a 12 juco football programs there and a few are always very good in playoffs etc

Valentine is now enrolled at Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. Same JUCO that Jeremy Cutrer attended. Does that make 3 schools in 2 years? If so that definitely shows you that kid has some mental issues.

I wonder if Kahn ( the 7' 440lb er) is with a good enough juco to improve his footwork and speed enough that he'd be worth a second look next year.

one underclassman left and we return 18 starters

you usually need JUCO players when you need immediate help right away

a LB is probably the only place I would have looked for JUCO but I'm one of the few who thinks we will be fine there with what we have

If White is able to pick up MLB behind Beckwith for a year and some of our current DEs, especially Key, show some versatility playing standing up, then we should be in pretty good shape without having to go JUCO. At least at OLB.

The place we will really need help down the road is inside, not outside. Will the staff want to gamble on whether a JUCO guy can come in and pick everything quickly enough to matter? A JUCO guy who comes in and takes a year to pick up a system and only has one season as an impact guy is a bit of a waste.

so what's the alternative? let him play immediately and be a liability? debo jones blew up his senior year; he wasn't a waste.

Someone PLEASE check out this program!!! Tyree Evans is there! An outstanding D lineman played alongside Benito Jones at Wayne County High School. Was told he was placed there by Little Nicky. For ability check out Rummel H.S. vs Wayne County game aired on ESPNU earlier in November 2015!!!! 3 sacks and several hurries.
