Pearland has grown so much that have a new school.
I did get to meet and talk with Shepards High School coach. Also talked with a few other kids on that team.
It was fun talking with a good friend (A UT grad) about the upcoming year. Hes another thats not too happy with Les coming in to Texas and getting some of the batter players.
This is my post from last week..........
I started at noon today, Turner Field in Humble (Artificial Turf), nice field.
The first scrimmage was Katy Taylor/Humble. Katy Taylor is coached by a good friend of mine Flint Risien. They don't have a ton of depth so some kids were held out. They do have a young TE that will have a shot to play at the next level. He 6'3" and is still growing( Only a Jr. ). A couple of the DB's are being looked at by smaller schools.
Humble has a big DT, Strahan 6'4" 300#'S. A Few more players that will get a look.
The second game, Cy-Ridge Vs Kingwood.
Kingwood lost a few players from last years team. The big kid on that team was an OL Travis Swanson 6'5" 275 (He's a verbal to Ark.). Two players from last years team transfered to St Pius, both RB's. Another kid is Robert Singletary, plays both sides of the ball (6'4" 200# ) and does well on the basketball court.
After the first game a coaching friend introduced me to the Head Coach of Cy-Ridge, Gary Thiebaud. People that think Cy is all offense will be in for a shock. The defense looks to have a few players. One that sat out this game (And I did get a chance to talk with him) DL Robert Scarpati, hes only a sophomore. The two LB's are tough and have good size. Princeton Jackson can play, nice size (6'0" 200#) and moves well. The two DE's Gandy 6'0" 250, Harold Jackson can both play. The Free Safety #7 can cover the field.
Now to Shepard, the work in the offseason has done him well, a few drops by the WR didn't do well for his stats. He did have one Int. The rest of the passes were ok. Every time the drive would stall, he'd fake the handoff and make a first. He finished with a little over 200 yds. rushing. One run was for about 70 and another for 60 yds. I did like the way he played. Will try and make another game this year.
The second game ended at 6:30. I didn't stay for the third game, Atascocita and a new school Pearland Dawson. 6 and a half hrs. of football, makes for a long day...

New Iberia. Nah, I'm not what you'd call a regular contributor. I pick and choose articles sporadically to do. I don't get paid for it, so there's only so much time i can devote to it.

For those who are Scout subscribers and who are interested, i just talked to Sonny. Article should be up in the next hour, he said.
I'll just post and link the site when it goes up. That way, I'm not linking a paid story, just linking the site. Hopefully that's cool with the admins and Chicken.
