Long time reader, first time poster. I wanted to make my first post a good one so I sat down with Jeryl Brazil and asked him some questions...

1. A couple of weeks ago you went on twitter to defend Chucky Baker and the criticism that was being said, tell us about that.
“I just think the criticism wasn’t right because recruits read that site and I’m pretty sure no other recruits want to see anyone downgrading them that’s supposed to be a fan of theirs and a fan of LSU. Saying that he cant make touchdowns, he’s not a D-1 player, I just don’t think its right because I’m pretty sure recruits take that to heart and they see other LSU fans saying that about him they are going to take that too well.”

2. Tell us about him thanking you at camp…
“He came up to me and thanked me at camp for taking up for him. He said he saw it himself and he understands that the people behind the computer screen really don’t mean nothing, a bunch of people that really don’t take part in LSU football. He commended me on it and just said thank you cause it was the right thing to do.”

3. There have been message boards posted and comments saying that everyone loves you, your friends with everyone, and everyone we talk to says you’re their boy… are you actively trying to be a leader of this recruiting class or is it just natural?
“Its pretty much natural, I try to be friends with everybody. Be a friendly person, especially to those who are going there (maybe referring to LSU) trying to get that bond now, just so when we do go there we can always have that relationship, that started back in high school. I try to get in good with everybody and let them know how I feel and just be myself towards them and not be someone that I am not. I’m not just being a recruit, I’m being their friend also and a teammate.”

4. How was your summer with the Bootleggers?
“My summer with the Bootleggers went well. We didn’t perform well in Florida cause we were missing a bunch of key players so we got knocked out of that tournament but we won the tournament at LSU last weekend. Its all been a great experience competing with some of the top guys in the country.”

5. Tell us about The Opening…
“The Opening was real fun. It started off great, it started off with my skill testing, I did all that good, I finished 11th out of the top 10, I would have finished top 10 but my shuttle was pretty bad. But everything else was in the 99th percentile and as far as competing wise I did really well, and my ranking moved up. I showed people I could play really well and I’m not just fast. So my rankings really moved up a lot. I think I moved 102 spots in the ranking so that was a big jump for me.”

6. Tell us about the 4.32 you ran… Was it kind of like the fastest kid from Florida vs the fastest kid from Louisiana type thing?
“Yes, when we raced I ran a 4.29 on the laser. But when I ran by myself I ran a 4.32. You know I thought in my head the whole time just run as fast as you can, try and get a good time, and I did that and I am proud of all 3 of my times.”

7. Tell us about the touchdown you scored on national television to give you guys the victory…
“That was a good feeling. Coming in the last seconds of the game, and doing that on national television for everyone back at home to see, it was remarkable. It was a good moment for me.”

8. How was last week at LSU Camp?
“I did good at LSU camp. I played a lot of receiver and people were real impressed with my receiving skills. Everybody thinks I should play receiver and some people think I should play corner back, its kinda a tough decision. When I asked the coaches they said it was up to me, but I wanna play for people like me, offensively better with the ball in my hands because of my speed and my agility time.”

9. There have been posts about you playing quarterback… what are your thoughts on that?
“I’m playing quarterback because I’m in high school and want to do what is best for my team. If I feel quarterback is best for my team then I’m gonna play quarterback. I wanna live up my high school experience with my teammates. If me playing quarterback is the best option, then I’m gonna play quarterback and sacrifice not playing DB for a year. Its for my team, I’m not going to be selfish and think about just me. I want to win a state championship with my team.”

10. Is there anything you want to say to Tiger Nation?
“Im ready to be a Tiger in the SEC because I can bring a lot of threat to it and the main thing I like about it is Speed Kills!”

IMO, it would be a waste of his great speed to not put the ball in his hands multiple times per game. Not many guys can keep up with him so get the ball to him and let him showcase that. I'm sure he'll be great wherever, I'd just like to see that speed utilized.

Brazil would tire a defense out and then you hit them with Hill to bruise them. Thats a deadly combination.

Brazil is going to be a star attraction nationally at LSU much like the "Honey Badger". At least I think so.
