Btw congrats TTowel.

Ace, you like Sandberg more than Ferguson? If he's the better guy then I'm fine with it but not going to convince many of us that he is. If Ferguson camps, he'll get the committable offer. His tools are hard to turn away. He's also ripe for the taking. We can't afford to hold the scholly. We need qbs now. If Mett goes pro...

Ace,

I'm a fan of Sandberg's game. He is a throwback, a football player. He is similar to Kincade IMO only stronger and bigger while Kincade is shiftier. Sandberg is a lefty for those of you who may not know. He is like Tebow-lite. That is not an insult because Tebow was an amazing player.

However, IMO Sandberg has issues passing the ball. He has poor footwork. He can rifle a short pass but he struggles at times to throw a deep ball or a nice fade. His receivers sometimes stop running and come back or wait for the ball to reach them. Now contrast that with Ferguson or even a Jennings who each have touch and accuracy. Moreover, Ferguson and Jennings both have quicker releases.

Cord's ceiling is immensely higher. I think that we all are enamored by Fergusons ability to get the ball out of his hands quickly, however their arm strength is almost identical. And Cord is much more athletic than Ferguson who looked down right slow on tape.

Thanks, brah.

I was hoping we would take him all along. After this season, when Clint Moseley figures out he will never start another game for Auburn, he will probably transfer, leaving us sort of thin at quarterback. I'm not so sure Jonathan Wallace will stay there, so that would leave Zeke Pike and Kiehl Frazier. Knowing that, I'm expecting 2 quarterbacks in this class.

Personally, I like Sandberg the most of the ones available. Followed by Kincade.

1. Ferguson
1a. Kincade

I'd try to get both, we haven't heard anything positive out of Spring on either Randall or Rivers and we should have if either of these two are going to be pressed to possibly start in 2013.

I think Liggins can be a good QB down the line, but he's going to have to be in the system for awhile. I don't like him as RSFR starter.

I understand the ceiling part but like Johnson if he doesn't come close to reaching his potential as a passer, what good is having that potential? I'd much rather have a guy like Ferguson who is a natural passer. Sandberg is a natural runner and just football player. That's great for a rb or fb but not qb especially after we've just come off the JJ experiment. Pure passers are much safer prospects even if they have limited ceilings. Would you rather have AJ McCarron or Denard Robinson? McCarron is a winner, Robinson is good for highlights. Similar to JJ/JL. JJ had more potential but JL was safer. Give me safer with our running game and defense. I value your opinion and appreciate it but we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

The next Tebow is on the west coast. His name is Johnny Stanton. Look him up. We should be after him if we want a Tebow like guy.

Mitch Trubisky committed to UNC tonight so that's another of Ferguson's offers off the board. We need to put the press on him if we want him.

Actually, I've read that Rivers was having good practices all the way back to the NCG practices. You have no idea if he's improving or not in practices. So don't assume they're terrible.

So because these RS Fresh., (people tend to forget how young these kids are) aren't throwing 99% in the Spring Game, they're done for and will never succeed?

It infuriates me that people just give up on kids if they're not playing as a true or RS freshman. This "what have you done for me lately" garbage is ridiculous.

QB's have to develop. It doesn't take one year to develop into a good QB in college football. Yes, you see some QB's coming in and making an impact early, but that's the exception not the rule. Stop acting like QB's can just walk in and play a year or two out of high school. These guys have to gain weight, learn playbooks, understand how to play the position.

You either let them sit the bench and learn the game or you can throw them in the fire like Jarrett Lee and have a snake bitten QB for 3 years.

So what about when LSU fans call Trovon Reed a bust? Kid just finished his RS-Freshman season

QB and WR aren't even in the same ballpark as far as mastering/learning. Not even close.

Good post. I've never been real high on Rivers but I hear he has progressed pretty well. Is a little scary to think that he could be our starter in 2013 if Mett has a big year.

For the most part Ferguson's offers have been noncommittable to this point. At least from the schools highest on his list. That may be about to change at least from our end and he'll likely get more offers as the dominoes continue to fall.

Reed's career is still a little early to call a bust just yet but a couple of reasons for that kind of talk is that he can't stay healthy and that he was passed by at least one true freshman(Bray) and didn't make a big impact even though Blake was the only real threat from the position. Now Reed will have Jacquay Williams to contend with among others. Things just aren't looking good for him.

To be honest, I don't think Mettenberger is on many NFL lists being that he doesn't have any experience. If he has a good year, I think he'd probably start getting his name out there a little more and hopefully will be advised to stay his Sr. year to become a 1st Rd. pick. I'm hoping it'd be a Tyler Wilson situation.

It'd give Rivers more time to do what he needs to do because TBH, I think he's going to be #2 and the next in line to take over.

He's had one injury at Auburn (the one that caused him to RS was lingering from HS). Bray didn't pass him yet, Reed is slated to start in the slot this upcoming season. And like you implied, it's hard to make an impact at WR when Moseley is the QB. And he'll have some more competition, but until that competition has passed him, you can't call him a bust fairly

Ok. So he should have made a huge impact as a freshman. But he didn't, and he doesn't go to LSU, so it's fair to call him a bust. Got it.
