im saying they arent as good as they could be if they didnt dictate the tempo(expiring offers after they leave mack's office) and would actually chase 5 star studs up until february

mack has seemingly grown pretty lazy.

i think muschamp would change that.

Off the top of my head, mainly from the 08 class(some of these may have offers than UT backed off)...RJ Washington, Daryl Stonum, Jermie Calhoun, Terrance Toliver, J.B. Shuggarts

I'm sure there's a couple more that I could find if I take a look at their classes. The point is these guys have enough talent coming out of high school to play at UT. Mack didn't offer them because he wanted to sure up his class early and these kids weren't interested or looked like they would be a tough battle.

There's nothing wrong with his approach and it's not a slight at UT...it's done him wonders since he's been there.

am i the only one whos sees the correlation between their recruiting and their football success? they always have great classes, but never spectacular. always strong, rarely elite. same on the field- theyve only one the conference ONCE in mack's tenure. i just cant help but feel if mack didnt let kids go north of the red river, OU wouldnt win the conference every year.

maybe im way off... but i see parellels

I remember the days back when A&M was worth half a shite and was considered just as prestigious as UT is now. Albeit it was probably 15-20 years ago but I think the reason why LSU is having so much success is the lack of competition from A&M rather than UTs lack of effort. Because east Texas has been locked down by LSU lately

Texas is pretty much broken up into regional fan bases and the areas LSU consistently pulls recruits from areas where A&M should be dominating. Instead their forced to recruit Shreveport and Lake Charles. Every now and then we get a Dallas recruit but if this was the 80s Id bet decent money SMU would be pulling those guys in central northern Texas.

RJ Washington just wasn't interested.
We thought D.J. grant and Buckner was better than Stonum.
Calhoun couldn't make the grades.
Don't know about J.B.

It's not every kid in Texas dream to go to Texas.

You are playing to the UT stereotypes Im afraid. If you dont get a kid, either they had no interest, UT had no interest, or it wasnt a good fit. According to you, UT has never lost a recruit that they coveted, eh?

Dude, you're pretty much a respected poster; but, you're prolly in over your head on this one.

So LSU Cherrypicks the state of Texas wow

The kid really has no intrest in Texas. What do you want us to do?

Yeah, no interest IS frigging part of it. UT cannot hand pick EVERY damn recruit they want; especially 9 months ahead of time. Yes, Mack IS getting lazy and it's costing ya'll. Ifin ya don't wanna admit it...............that's kewel!!! Ya'll get "only" those guys who grew up Longhorn fans, and we'll take home 2-crystal balls to ya'lls one. I'll take that.

Having said that, I'm gonna contradict myself and say that I predict UT to meet UF for "it all" this year. I just think Superman and crew will win it again this year. I know; a lazy, safe pick!!! BUT, they (UF) can slip up and lose a close one in the SEC and still make the MNC game; then I see the overall talent taking over and winning it all.............again.

Exactly, and what does it say about your talent evaluation and coaching when you get EVERY kid you want, yet you still can't win the Big 12 South?

He was one that definitely was going to get a Texas offer, but LSU offered him the day before Tex's Junior Day. He always wanted to play for LSU, so he committed.

I have never said that we don't lose in recruiting battles. You guys got it backwards. We lost R.J.Washington because HE had no intrest in us. So yea we do lose players. My argument was with the guy that says LSU cherry picks the stae of Texas which is false.

We all do. Then the respective fan base comes up with lame shite as to why they didnt want or need that particular kid... Or even worse, they libel the kid by claiming he has off field issues or problems.

Don't get me started with lame shite what about LSU and Committable offers? When someone picks anything other than LSU it's oh he didn't have a committable offer wtf is that?

So committable offers don't exist? I guess Lache and Garett Uekman have the exact same offer.
