Bull fricking shite!

He didn't show interest in Texas early and they didn't pursue him. He wanted to leave the state from the start. They would have taken him in a heartbeat if he wanted to go there.

Williams only received offers from UT, Tech, A&M, and Kansas. He was intially interested in Florida, OK, and Nebraska but none of them offered him.

Mack knows more about these kids than anyone. Most coaches are focusing on the 2010 class while Mack has been evaluating the 2011 class for months.Sometimes fans son't understand what goes on behind the scenes.

as far as "battles" with texas- they dont exist. either the kid is all texas and gets an offer, or he "doesnt fit in" @ texas and its time for him to look elsewhere for a schollie. either they LOVE UT- or they dont and dont have an offer.

UT simply wont fight for a kid- and they dont need to- but its not like LSU will pry a UT commit away. LS is a "battle," but since UT is already bowing out, they dont lose the "battle"

UT will probably never have to "battle" for any recruits, as long as they're decent. LSU's recruiting of texas affects A&M and OU far more than it ever will UT

Why would UT bow out?

And he knows which kids don't want to go to UT, so he avoids them. It doesn't mean they aren't good enough to play at UT. Many of these high profile kids that leave the state without a UT offer, would have offers if they would agree to commit early.

Probably some truth to this. And to be honest, the intention of this thread was not to start a UT v LSU discussion. My original point was simply that according to a UT guy, LSU was in good shape with Lache, that's all.

wasn't Mack prepared to make that trade until Perrilloux flaked out at the last minute and changed his commitment?

i remember LSU & McCoy having a fair amount of mutual interest at that time...

Bottom line guys, LSU and TEXAS both SELECT guys.

There are seldom head to head public battles because neither team NEEDS to grovel.

I do perceive LSU as more aggressive than Texas, in recruiting, and thus "better" at recruiting.
I think that is due to Mack's general demeanor.

I would not be surprised to see Mack retire and Texas start recruiting even better, i.e. do a better job evaluating talent (especially skill players where UT has always had depth issues) and being more aggressive.

oh c'mon now. all the guys who end up NOT in austin that UT could get if they put in the time. whens the last time mack brown closed a big name on signing day?

im not denying that UT is a recruiting machine. im saying they arent as good as they could be if they didnt dictate the tempo(expiring offers after they leave mack's office) and would actually chase 5 star studs up until february

It's Ketchum, but no big deal.

He's the man at OB, so he has good scoop.

Also a bit of a dickhead and widely despised by any and all OU fans who are aware of him.
