What happened to this kid? He was committed to LSU, and then now he's going juco? Mist be grades or something

He hasn’t been committed to lsu for months now.

Nothing to do with grades. Vanek committed to Maineri and Jay just didn’t regard him as high as PM did. He had opportunities to go to several in state schools but chose Juco to have a shot at a big time program in two years.

I know he missed some time due to injury
I believe he’s healthy now
It’s what happens when you commit 8th graders and fr before they play varsity

I spoke to his grandmother and that pretty much sums it up. “They gave his spot to the junior from Arizona”. Didn’t sound like they were happy about the timing but she said things are working out just fine for JC.

ETA a clarification:
LSU still wanted him to be on the team but as a walk on (with tops). JC felt he deserved better for his hard work and decommitted. He's healthier now than he's ever been, laser focused on his goals and ready to ball!
