Officially or just restating after his weekend visit? I saw his visit pictures. You weren’t kidding really looked like he was all in.

Would be another blow to Kelly’s reputation as a recruiter.. you can’t even argue that. This kid is a must get in state prospect and he’s predicted to go to the school he just left

Getting Baton Rouge kids has never been easy for LSU. People often want to leave the city that were raised there. I was one of those kids.

And Notre Dame is a fantastic school, much better academically than LSU. I would never hate on a kid for chasing that.

Now, his brother going to Auburn is a bit different.

Lmao I promise I am. It’s just tough seeing the wall around Louisiana recruiting evaporate before our eyes. Kelly has had enough time to start building relationships. Obviously, that can only take you so far with NIL now. But, seeing the school you left (for better talent) stealing in-state talent is a very bad sign. It’s not all on Kelly but, LSU is in major trouble moving forward if this is the new normal for in-state recruiting.

So, you don’t give BK any credit for getting the #6 ranked class(transfer portal and high school)last year?

huh? LSU has always had a very hard time recruiting U-High kids. so how is this anyway shape or form an indication that kelly cant recruit? Could Miles not recruit, what about Ed O?

It’s not this one recruit. I’ve followed LsU football recruiting and know how difficult it is to land BR kids. I just want you to look at last years top-10 LA recruits and this year’s top-10 LA recruits. A majority are leaving the state or predicted to leave the state in 2023. If that holds, that is two straight years and a very concerning trend. Last year is excusable due to the coaching change. There’s no excuse this year to lose Ausberry and Curtis in the same cycle. Along with the top two QBs and the top defensive prospect (Williams predicted to Bama), it’s not looking great so far, bud. Really hoping this turns around

I'm sorry but this would be an absolutely embarrassing loss.

It's one thing to lose out on an elite in-state recruit to another SEC school, but to lose one to a school up north that just so happens to be the former school of our new head coach?

Not a good look at all.

You’ll get downvoted but, there’s no doubt it’s quite concerning.

no i actually agree with this 100% it is a concern. I will judge 2024 more harshly though but its a concern for sure.

I was talking specifically cause you said losing Ausberry was a terrible look for Kelly.

You can’t get ELITE athletes and win on the big stage. You guys didn’t know that’s the narrative? I mean that it is why BK is here.

LSU may not even get half of the 2023 Top 10 in LA.
The fence does not exist right now.

Top 10 in Louisiana for 2023:

1. Arch Manning
2. Shelton Sampson Jr
3. Derek William
4. Eli Holstein (Alabama)
5. Jaiden Ausberry (100% CBs to Notre Dame)
6. Zalence Heard
7. Tackett Curtis (100% CBs to Ohio State)
8. Omarion Miller
9. Kylin Jackson
10. Jordan Matthews

I don't see us getting even half of that group.

Yea that's not good (or ideal)

Kelly's avg recruiting ranking at ND was 12th.

Looking at Bama, UGA, OSU, Clemson (the consistent playoff contenders) you need consistent top 5/10 classes.

We also really need to lock Louisiana up. Can't afford losing half the top 10 players each year and expect to compete.

This thing called NIL money tore down every fence across the country. Anyone is a threat to go anywhere these days. We'll have to adjust our thinking in recruiting and be open to more OOS kids and transfers. This isn't just an LSU thing either.

So now Marcus Freeman is going to get elite level athletes and win a national title since BK couldn't?
