Three of the last nine National Championships were won by position coaches with no experience as coordinators.

If you are referring to Dabo and O, like all other similar hires, as soon as they missed on a coordinator, it all fell apart. Matt Luke never even got off the ground. Pittman at least had one good season with his original staff before things fell off.

One off hire and you can go from contender to .500 or below.

Dabo and Meyer account for 3 of the last 9 and had no Coordinator experience.

One huge difference between Meyer and the others we are talking about- O, Luke, Pittman, Dabo- is that Meyer could run an offense and call plays, even if he hadn’t been an OC before he became a head coach. None of those others has ever demonstrated the competency to run one side of the ball or the other.

I hope they hire Robinson. A&M will probably pay him north of 7 million also.

Sounds like they're hiring Elko now and he'll retain Robinson as DC.

Obviously keeping Robinson is like the most important thing for Elko, but do you think he even lets him run his own defense? Or more for player development/recruiting

Robinson was brought on as DL the same year Elko joined A&M as DC and they worked together for 4 seasons. So there's a familiarity there.

O was DC under Kiffin at USC.

That is news to me. I wouldn’t know, but I have witnessed numerous arguments about O in which one poster said he had never been a coordinator, and until now, I had never heard anyone disagree.

They are reporting that Robinson will most likely be Elko’s defensive coordinator to keep the defensive players in place

Why do you guys continually suck off or glaze over a player that doesn't want to be here? it's asinine to me. Once he made his choice. I was over him. I want the players that want to be here. I'll take 10 Stamps, Welch, Allen, Ryan, Yaites, Jackson, Toviano, Langlois, Hughes, or Robinson's over Jacoby any day. They chose to be a tiger from the start of their careers.

Looks like Jacoby is going to be disappointed they aren’t taking the interim tag off Robinson.
