I saw some MSU fans saying they project him as a middle reliever that is used a couple times every weekend series.

I doubt that solely from the standpoint that I don't think the MSU pitching coach would be that reckless with him. As a freshman coming off elbow surgery, throwing multiple times in a weekend would be much too risky for his long term future.

I think his ceiling is higher than that as well, but as a freshman he may be a multi inning reliever for them.

His "stuff" is actually his strength. He sits at 90, others throw harder, but has a TON of movement on his pitches, and he commands/controls them very well. He is a sinker/slider type pitcher (does have a good CB). His bread and butter are a 2-seam fastball that runs/sinks ALOT, and a wipeout slider that breaks like a whiffle ball.

What makes him so good is that halfway to the plate, everything looks the same to the hitter, it all comes out of the same tunnel, then the late breaking action at that velocity makes it very difficult for a hitter to adjust to.

And yes, big time gamer with a great mound demeanor, never gets rattled. He will go far!

34 career innings pitched. 14 of those in his 5th year season at McNeese in 2020. Career WHIP of 1.9.

This is what I meant.

He doesn't have the heat (at this point) that really makes high school guys coveted by MLB. That is a big reason he isn't a huge draft risk.

That doesn't mean he can't be a great pitcher at the next level and beyond, but it does make it harder. Could turn into an Aaron Nola if his location is elite on several pitches and he adds just a little velo, but there aren't many Aaron Nolas. (although Nola can hit 95 if he's feeling it)
