Travon needs to be a corner.

Agreed.
He shows a good cover skill set at CB.

Landry is the best player in the state, his straight away speed isn't elite but the guy makes shite happen. I've never been more impressed by a possession receivers film than I was with JL's Soph film. He makes an absolutely ridiculous catch that showed unreal body control and concentration for any level of athlete much less a 15 year old. Landry could very well end up the most important recruit in the most talent laden class LSU may ever have.

I don't care where some recruiting service jerkoff ranks him, the kid can ball. Just remember that people thought so highly of Jerry Rice he ended up at Mississippi Valley State. Even Miss. St. passed on the GOAT.
+1

Strong words there SLR.
Anyone can make a strong argument for a handful of guys to be the top guy in the state--with Jarvis being one of the main candidates.

I know I know, we are all still on the Landry commitment Ether. Let's be real though, look at the way he plays the game, not one shortcut, not one play off, good blocker with a headhunter mentality along with his God given body control and coordinantion. I haven't been this excited about a commitment since Shep and Randle because I honestly believe he is on their level coming out of school

Who is Reed...I thought the NBC guys said his name was Red...

Prototypical size gets a lot of pull, but if you can ball, then you can ball. Shep's no where close to prototypical QB size, but the kid can
play. Fwiw, if he gets 4-5 stars then whatever, he's a 5-star to us, since we know it all. JL FTW.

Can you not think of a more recent example, its been almost 30 years since this happened.

Landry ranked top 100 in MaxPreps Top 100 Juniors - one of 13 listed WR's in the bunch...fwiw

Landry is a monster but I think Freak will end up being the best player of the bunch when it's all said and done.
he has the potential to be an absolutely dominating presence inside..otherworldly upside.
and that's really the most important thing to building a winning program, imo. You've gotta have studs on the lines.

Vastly overrated.
Come on lynx, he's one of the most explosive players in this class.

He should not be ranked #39 overall in the country as Rivals has him. I think he is very overrated at that high of a ranking. He is a 70-80s guy.

I think he'd be deadly in an offense that will get athletes in space, you gotta admit that he's one of the more explosive players in this class. The film don't lie.
The fact that he never played CB and still was one of the better ones there tells you what a great athlete he is.

I don't expect him to be a "blow me away" player at the next level. I think he is a better prospect at CB than WR, assuming he has a nose to tackle someone.

I remember we thought that he had some "Debose-like" highlights a year ago. How things change.

Did I say that?
I don't ever remember being that high on him...but maybe I was.
Trovon has some serious size issues. The kid really needs to hit the weight room.

Yeah, but just off of one highlight. Where he takes it off of a reverse, pushes off of one foot, and then explodes upfield.
He has some size issues, but nothing that one year in the college weight room won't take care of. I think he's just a baller and a great athlete who also catches the ball very well.
You know that I'm a tough critic and think some of these guys are overrated.
