Are you implying that buggs will be able to play this year? I thought he was a 2017 recruit. We will have a very different defense next year as we will be losing a lot.

On paper right now yes it is a national championship caliber team but let's wait to see what we bring back next year before we jump that far ahead.

No, you are correct Buggs is a 2017 recruit, so he cant play for us this year(although I wish he could). The point I was making was that if he could play for us this year, he is good enough to come in here and probably start for us on day one.

Our current roster on paper can compete with any team in the country, so bringing a national championship home is a realistic possibility, not necessarily a probability.

No....No he couldn't lol. Rotate? probably. Start right away, not a chance.

Buggs has the requisite size, and speed that fits the profile of a 3-4 DE as much as anyone on our current roster.

It remains to be seen how Rashard Lawrence is going to be used, will it be at DE or DT. Glen Logan could get some PT as well, but who do we currently have that is really a prototype 3-4 DE right now?

I would think that would be the plan with so many likely going pro. For him to come in and start immediately.
I don't have any inside info on where he is headed (hopefully LSU)...but can say he's a special special athlete and high pro potential player. Guys with his size and athleticism don't grow on trees. Think a bit more athletic Marcus Spears imo

Marcus Spears was all state in football and basketball. I've seen, in person, him outrun an entire defense and score a touchdown and also take a defensive rebound coast to coast, put on a spin move, and then dunk the ball.

Marcus Spears is literally a freak athlete.

He was saying that he would start right away on this year's team (2016).

And I still sand by that statement, if he was a recruit for 2016, I think Buggs could possibly start at DE.

Who do we have that we know is going to play DE this year that is better?

If Arden key is going to remain at DE, he would be the only one for sure that the coaches would start over Buggs. Actually, never mind, Buggs would have to beat out Bower, and also Caleb Roddy, who I had completely forgotten about. Lewis Neal wasn't as much of a factor in games at the end of the season as he was early in the year.

Okay, so scratch that maybe Buggs wouldn't start day one, but he still could get a lot of playing time. It's still possible being that he is a JC transfer with more experience that he could beat somebody out of the job.

At the very least Buggs would get some significant playing time this year if he was a recruit for 2016 and not 2017.

Buggs was also an Allstate basketball player, 2nd team in 5A, I believe
I hesitated to say a better athlete, as he didn't have as many accolades, but I believe he is faster and can jump higher, which is why I said more athletic. Spears is the best LSU comparison I can think of, maybe a taller Bennie Logan might be a comparison
I may be wrong, I'm just saying they are similar and

Although I'm not a Spears fan by any stretch, he was voted the best all around high school athlete in the nation by some organization back in has day...a dominant basketball player btw...but I agree that Buggs is that level of DE...would be a huge get!

As an LSU fan, why would you not be a Spears fan?

I'll take it easy on you...look at it this way...I'm a Republican, but I despise most of the establishment Repubs...as for Spears, I just don't think he's very smart in many things he has said in the past...

Spears has often stuck his political foot in his own mouth...why not study the subject matter first before commenting? Just a thought...start with Plato's Republic and move forward...lol
