Is the moral of the story to just simply not follow recruiting?

I mean what's the point really? No one knows shite, not even the coaches. Inside info is really just the latest whim of some dumb kid who will change his mind 10 more times.

I don't really follow recruiting closely. I'll check in around signing day but I'm not even sure why I do that.

Just wait for the class to be announced and avoid disappointment. If you saw LSU's class rank but didn't follow all the stupid rumors and drama you probably wouldn't be disappointed.

TL/DR kids are dumb. Recruiting is shady and insiders only know as much as what some teenager told someone, which means dick.

To me it’s just something football to look at during the offseason.

I have not paid any attention to it until this year. We will know in two years how this class panned out.

I love following the kids from HS to the NFL . But then, I have never ever melted on a recruit. I just get really happy about the guys we do get. I also see three scholarships sitting out there as a HUGE opportunity.

Follow it all you want, just don't get emotionally invested in the decisions of teenagers and you should be ok

Don’t follow recruiting one week out of the year.

The moral for some is don’t hang your hopes on the whims of a 17 year old.

You have to have the right mindset. If you don't, it's best to wait until Spring practice to start learning about the new guys. Get excited and celebrate the ones we get and don't get disappointed by the ones we miss. It can take a long time, a year or more, to actually know the impact, so don't worry about it.

No, it means to enjoy it and have reasonable expectations and know that you're following high school kids.

The moral of the story is not to pay for recruiting services. The free stuff and this board are more than enough.

This day is very fun to follow, even if you don't get them all, the times that you do get someone unexpected make up for it.

No, all you have to do is enjoy who we get. Don’t get tied up into these 18 year olds. I followed recruiting religiously and got very disappointed year after year. I stopped following it like I used to and it’s a lot easier on the heart when you enjoy who we do get.

Its fun to see who goes where. But i will never again put stock in what any of these kids say. Not until that LOI is in hand.

That or just approach it from a pessimistic viewpoint.

That way you're not nearly as disappointed when things don't go your way.

The biggest problem I see is poor reading comprehension. Some folks bought into an obvious troll claiming to be Burch's uncle. There were obvious inconsistencies in his initial post.

Other folks get so angry at Voltiger13 saying "he got their hopes up" or that he's a "liar". I have no idea who the guy is but none of his statements that I've seen would be any different than if O came on the board and shared his thoughts on where we were with recruits.

We signed a great class. We had some nice surprises like A Gilbert, McGlothern, Webb, Dumervil, etc., and some misses like Burch and the two WRs. If we sign a class like this every year we will always be in contention. That's a big takeaway.

this was the first time ever that I've followed recruiting closely and only did so because of the supposed "booms" that were coming.

it was hilarious at times (the van pran live stream thread today and james burch? come on) and exciting. Other times it was annoying trying to follow the logic of 17-18 year old kids

I will never do this again, but it sure was fun
