Is Pete Jenkins a liability in recruiting?

First, the guy is a legend and quite possibility the best position coach of all time. However, it's pretty clear he won't be here past next year and he's certainly not on the recruiting trail. I would imagine the pitch to Buggs and others would be "you don't even know who's going to be your position coach for your career at LSU."

Is it time to hire a more long term coach at DL?

Nah. The reality is position coaches are always on the move.

he is an absolute 100 percent liability in recruting, of course, theres no question, anyone who says otherwise is lying. for orgeron to extend him as quickly as he did was dumb beyond belief, the first if his daily frick-ups since he took over.

Players sign with ones they are comfortable with

DBs line up to play for Raymond. If he said this was his last year I wonder how our DB crop would look.

Have we not said as much about Jenkins?

He may not do much recruiting himself, but he is a likely a selling point for other recruiters to Dlinemen. It's probably nice to say to kids they can come play for and learn from.

Unfortunately Orgeron has stated he will likely be gone after next year and that is fine. Position coaches change all the time and I'm sure CEO will have a suitable replacement. We don't need a recruiter at DL coach as O probably the best DL recruiter in the nation. A guy like Jenkins is perfect and it's too bad he likely wont be here in 2018.

You still have to have someone who can recruit dl. Has a head coach be doesn't get to recruit like he use too.

Orgeron will be with the defensive lineman just like Saban works with DB's and Fisher works with QB's. Personally, I would be really excited about having Jenkins as a coach.

Typically, yes. But O is trying to be a different style of coach who motivates, evaluates, and recruits (both players and coaches). Recruiting is his main objective as head coach. You'll see once NSD rolls around and we've got another epic DL haul just like last year. DL and DB are the two areas I'm least concerned with in regards to recruiting.

Yes, especially since BDP was fired. Saban has Louisiana guys recruiting in the state. Dunbar and Burns know Louisiana.

From a perception standpoint yes but in reality, as a personal, active recruiter, no. Austin Thomas was allowed to go out and recruit in his place and that's a win for us. Thomas is a better recruiter than all but 2, maybe 3 on our staff. The loose end of Jenkins not being long term isn't as big a deal as most think it is. Position coaches move around all the time.

Your theory is that we could have lost Buggs because of Pete Jenkins' age and his inability to run the roads could be used against him in a negative recruiting campaign? You are absolutely correct! 100%! LSU needs to sign all of their coordinators to 10-year deals to show everyone , including the recruits and rival coaches, how stable we are.

I've also heard that other coaches are saying:

-Coach O will never make it make it because he has high blood pressure and drinks Red Bull.
-Corey Raymond has some questionable moles that he is scared to get looked at.
-Austin Thomas is really 49 years old and pretends to be younger.
-Aranda is an Austic Savant.

The freak out is in full effect! It is not a good idea to shite into your hands and rub it into your hair like shampoo....I repeat, it is NOT a good idea and to hide under the kitchen table for days on end.

Man the frick up, you candy asses!!!

I know it probably took you a long time to come up with all of that and you should be incredibly proud. Back to the rational conversation now....

Coach O has stated publicly that Jenkins will only be here one more year. Is it that far fetched to think that part of the negative recruiting against potential LSU DLs is......

-the only certainty you have is that your position coach, the guy you will spend almost every day with, is only going to be there one more year.
-the guy they bring in may be a complete and total A-hole. He may not know a damn thing about you or how to develop you. And you'll be stuck with him for your college career. Do you want to gamble with your NFL future like that?
-If you come here, I'll be developing you. I'm not going anywhere. (I understand position coaches come and go but no one announces it!) I'm a proven commodity. Look at the guys I'm putting into the league.

Hell, I think I just convinced myself to go elsewhere

The only things certain in life are death, taxes and coaches changing jobs. Try not to over think every glaring mistep, the list is becoming too long.

It did not take me that long.
