I am looking at ESPN Jr 300 and the 247 composite.
Miss and Alabama are worse off. Georgia is looking extremely strong again next year.
I have constantly heard that Tennessee does not have recruits. Last year, this year and next year look pretty strong for Tennessee. 10, 9, and 18 in the espn 300 is a couple more over that period as Louisiana (13, 10, 12).
It got my attention since we signed two guys last year and have a commitment for next year.

Two things.
1) use the 247 composite - its a much more reliable rating system since it takes into account multiple scouting agencies.

2) don't pay attention to next year player evals until after this year's cycle is complete. it will change a ton between Feb and the start of football season, and quite a bit more after the 2018 HS season.

Georgia will be #1 in recruiting next year also. They already have 3 of top eight committed and have many more from their home state in top 100. They are about to be in the playoffs for a few more years

1) I looked at 2019 in the 247 composite as well. I did that first, but did not go back and look at 2017 and 2018 in the composite due to laziness ;-)
2) I agree. What sparked all of this was an interview I heard on ESPN where the national analyst mentioned that Tennessee was not a top job because of lack of recruits. He said there were only a hand full each year. That did not match with our 4 and 5 * signees last year and our 4* commit from next year so I decided to dig down a little. Lets just say that I did not expect them to have more than us

It would be nice if Tenn could go back to picking a few of their top players each year! Lets see, that could include a bunch of teams that we don't play. USCe, Clemson, and Fla State. Heck, maybe we should send a link to that list to everyone in the ACC and Big 10!

Good choice,jCole Things def change . Injures also you talking about 18 year olds they get new girlfriends. Sometimes of these things make them lazy and they don't workout as they should and thier development doesn't go as thought. Rememeber when we were youngsters and girls changed our lives. Best thing since instant grits!

the state of Tennessee has better high school football these days than people give them credit for. a lot of schools rob the state and have for the last several years. UT gets most but its a long way from Memphis to Knoxville and lots of Memphis guys either don't qualify or go to their local school or ole miss. geographically, UT has historically recruited the Carolinas and Georgia a lot.

That's just not true anymore. Tennessee is one of the faster growing states in the country.

Also, Knoxville is a relatively short drive from Atlanta, so they should be able to pull from the top ranked kids from Georgia similarly to how LSU can get kids from Houston.

Now, I don't think there's a ton of talent in Knoxville like there is in the Baton Rouge area, but the talent isn't that far away.

O was an assistant at Tennessee. His recruiting greatness left an aura they still enjoy.

Georgia has been a top state for talent for years. a lot of schools were signing top guys there also, both SEC and ACC. all Kirby has to do to be successful is recruit the home guys. it seems the guys before him didn't recruit as well as they should have. they also tossed a lot of players for infractions; Richt was very tough on that.

as far as your comment about them being in the playoffs for a few more years that's iffy as hell. they still have to go through the sec west. just because they beat auburn this year does not make them a dynasty. hell, LSU beat auburn this year.

Georgia got skull dragged by auburn the first time they played. Kirby is no nick saban I don't care what some are saying. he's having a very good year, won the east (which at least 4 teams in the west would have done this year it was so weak) and beat auburn 1 out of 2 games. nothing more or nothing less.

Eh, we should be winning the East for a few years until some catches up with our talent. As far as going through the West, we’ve beaten AU 10 of the last 13 times. I like our odds.

Most of the talent is in Mid TN, with a few good players in West TN. The pickings are much slimmer in the East. Then you have UT being down for a decade with Bama right on their doorstep in the Nashville area and OM, State, and Arkansas within easy reach of Memphis. All have large alumni bases in and around the city. Then you have a suddenly strong Memphis program putting up big numbers, getting on TV, and putting guys in the league. They are a threat to pull high three and even low four star guys in West TN. Norvell has a actually won a couple of head to head battles.

UT just hasn’t done well at all recruiting Memphis for several years now. The right coach will change that, but he will have to prove something on the field first.

The difference is, while tennessee may have some highly ranked prospects, I will take a louisiana prospect over that of tennesee bc the average player in hs in louisiana is just simply better than one in tennessee. Football in louisiana is better than tennessee. Therefore, the players that are in louisiana play against better talent in high school than players in tennessee. That's just my obseration of course, but it's logical. High school football in louisiana is just better than tennessee high school football overall.

Completely agree. People are already crowning UGA, and it's absurd.

Analysts claiming that Tennessee has a recruiting disadvantage is just due to laziness. Going forward, the only states in the South that will produce more talent are Georgia, Florida, and Texas.

Population in the midstate has exploded in the last decade. 13 4*s in the Nashville metro alone next class, 2020 class is shaping up to also be a great one for the state. Memphis has always produced a decent amount of talent (albeit half are near illiterate due to Memphis public schools being the worst in the state), but the Mid State has really seen tremendous growth in HS football, and there’s no signs of that changing.
