re: If BK hires Cortez Hankton, look-out!

I don’t agree that Hankton would be overkill.
The greater New Orleans area is just so important to LSU, that I don’t believe you can have enough coaches on staff with strong ties to NOLA and its network of HS coaches.
That said, its unclear to me who our primary Florida recruiter will be. And there’s no denying the wealth of talent originating from that state and its importance to the LSU program (particularly, over the last 15-20 years).
Hopefully, at least one of the new coaches has connections in that market. And frankly, I trust BK’s judgment for how they will approach recruiting Florida. One thing I’m certain of - BK’s not an idiot, so he understands how talent-rich Florida is and will have a plan for LSU to continue to pull several prospects out of the sunshine state annually.

Fair question. I hope so because we need inroads into E TX. Hopefully the new S coach has N TX ties.
Houston-Golden Triangle have been very very good to LSU in the modern era.

This group of recruiters is missing on Florida. That state was ripe for the taking with Florida, FSU, and Miami all down the last few years,
So maybe consider that Raymond’s Florida connection wasn’t that strong.

That was Raymond's recruiting area if not mistaken.
If you look at CR’s professional history, he’s never worked or played in Florida before now and we already know he’s from Louisiana. Meaning, he built his Florida connections while at LSU so I’m sure a guy like Hankton, who’s been coaching at the state next door, or a young up-n-comer like Steeples could build the same connections for LSU as Raymond did.

Go look at Hankton’s 247 recruit list.
He’s gotten guys from GA, Tx, FL, AL as much as he has LA.
He would be a monster pick up.
From LA, played at Texas Southern and then the Jags. Coached in Georgia and Tennessee. Probably has connections everywhere.

I’m curious about Hankton already having established some Florida connections.
While he was an NFL wide receiver, Cortez played four seasons for the Jacksonville jaguars one season for Tampa Bay buccaneers and then one final season for another Florida team in the UFL.
As such, Hankton has lived in Florida for approximately 6 years. I bet that dude has some connections within that state.

Nah. His brother is an analyst on the University of Texas staff too. Was with Michigan State before that.

One thing that might help recruiting in Florida is that there will (or should be) 3 offensive linemen if not starting, heavily in the rotation - Dumervil, Martinez and Kimo, from FL. Get all three of those guys playing well, and you can sell that to FL recruits.

I’ll take Hankton because he’s been on staff with Kirby and they are all recruiting well. He will know what Georgia has been doing to get the recruits too. It’s time for LSU to step up their dirty game. Getting some insight on what Georgia has been doing will be good for this.

They started paying the most in the country when Kirby arrived. That's not a joke.

Cain also national - was hitting Maryland recruiting pretty hard before Riley left.

Steeples is my dark horse for being an elite recruiter. He's a super star about to emerge. Bookmark it.

We used to pull a few from Florida. Who has Florida ties?

I’m not 100% certain but I think Cortez Hankton has Florida ties. He lived in Florida for six years during his time in the NFL (Jacksonville and Tampa).
Polian and Polian and Kelly will no doubt have some Florida connections as well

Ready to see these guys reap some top 5 classes in 23 and 24. Get it rolling!

This thread has me pretty excited not gonna lie.
Get go immediate transfers to play and have a good year, let's say 9 wins, then our recruiting will sky rocket.
