How many running backs in this class?

The 247 recruiting site has Harold Joiner predicted to LSU. The Dandy Don site today has the much ballyhooed Anthony Pooka Wllliams perhaps going to LSU if he gets his grades up. We have Chris Curry and Tae Provens committed.
Now it’s a given LSU needs immediate depth at the depleted rb position when Guice and Williams leave. And it’s true these four 2017 prospects offer different skill sets.
But there is still but one football to hand off and I can’t remember getting 4 running backs in one class. Three is usually a big rb class, understanding that you can hurt depth at other positions by having too much youth at one position.
So does LSU take four rb’s in this class? If only three, would it be Joiner over Williams assuming both want to come? It would seem that Joiner and Curry would be more every down between the tackle backs while Proven and Williams would be more third down backs who could be more versatile in passing and return game.
Joiner is the highest rated of the group. Pooka seems to offer the best chance for a dynamic multi purpose back. Just getting one of the two along with Curry and Provens would be a decent haul and go a long way to restoring depth.
And you never know despite rankings who will be your best. Dalton Hilliard was not the star running back in his class at LSU, Garry James was. The LSU didn’t even offer Marshall Faulk at running back.

in Canada's offense Pooka could play a number of roles and would be a dynamic change of pace. Joiner would be our workhorse with Curry and Provens vying for #2. however, you can never tell; 18 yr olds need time to mature and you just never know who will get serious and get the PT. as the OP said Dalton Hilliard was not supposed to be the man but burst in the scene as the man.

Joiner or Pooka, plus Curry and Provens is a heck of a group. Different kind of backs, too, so they can all be utilized.

if we reel in Joiner along with Curry and Provens...I am happy.
Then next year with Davis and Cain

Provens is listed as an athlete, so he could possibly play defense or even receiver.

There was also some talk over the spring and summer that Joiner might not end up at running back in college. That talk seems to have died down lately, but I had read his initial draw to LSU was because we were recruiting him as a running back, but that Alabama had opened his eyes a bit that it's possible his path to the NFL is at a different position.

4 running backs in a single class!!! Insanity. Take two and use the other two to take linemen.

Not all 4 would be true RBs. Think of Provens and Pooka as our version of the Percy Harvin position. Basically Russell Gages position. Necessary in Canada's offense.

If pooka has his grades right, we have to get him in this class somehow. He’s electric with the football and can return kicks. We won’t take 4 backs in this class with the loaded 19 class. Not sure who gets left out.

Reminds me of Darrel Williams, just looks like DW running the ball.
