Miley would have had an ERA of 5 in the SEC. He was ok, but nothing great

Sure, it happens. Just not often at schools where the high school segment is less than 200.

LSU is offering kids as fr and so in high school
Sometimes those sr kids that blow up get overlooked and end up at smaller schools or JCs. Credit for LSU for going out and getting a Mark Laird and a Kade Scivique

With limited roster spots you can't sign them all and you have to factor in the draft as well

Not true at all. Baseball, and recruiting practices, are stuck in a time machine. Great players careers end in HS a lot more than it should.
