Therefore Adams should have been a target all along.

I am all in on going after and being loyal to in state kids.

BUT, we should put the offers out there, give them plenty of time but in the meantime, we should be after the Adams of the world.....if, at the point of an Adams wanting to committ, give them a call and tell them they have first right, but if they aren't ready, we are moving on.

We have all seen they can still visit places if committed (although I'm totally against that)...but the top flight institutions like us should not be held hostage when others are begging us to contact and offer them.

I personally feel it would tell you immediately if an in state kid really loves LSU.

In all seriousness, the most anger I feel after losing an in state guy who plays games, is the next week hearing another kid say he loved LSU but they were late to the game or didn't return his calls, etc

Texas got away with this for awhile, because of the depth in Texas and the sheer number of quality recruits.

Won't work here. You make elite guys your priority, and you make in state guys your priority, and if they are both, you stick with them. Sometimes you get burned, but even this year, we still have a chance to fill all the needs in this class. Doubt you will see any changes other than redoubled efforts by coaches in areas we struggled in.

mother fricking THIS! This damn kid hasn't had us in his top 3 all fricking year! and we hold off on others? WTF? His cousin is a coach here and it was so damn obvious he wasn't coming, but all LSU people wanted to think he was smart enough to "troll" the nation.

Repeat, his cousin is Frank Wilson......you really think there was something he didn't know about LSU his junior year?

And, since the recruiting game is a media frenzy and kids "enjoy the process", fine, but if LSU isn't even listed as your favorite, then we are contacting others.

You have to take back the power from the jerks who play games....they are young kids, many without father figures, you CANNOT let them dictate the terms.
We took commitments from 2 very very good rbs, yet Fournette still committed, but we stayed away from DL/DE so Willis might come? fricking stupid!

So you would have told LF to commit or we were moving on if he wasn't ready?

I think they offered everyone they needed to. Problem is time. Time is the most valuable resource in recruiting.

They didn't have enough face time with the OOS guys. I don't think all the time in the world would've brought Speedy or GW to LSU, so the staff needs to do a better job of recognizing that and put that time into OOS recruits.

That said, the staff is doing a great job with recruiting overall. Doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. We have commitments from about 6 states. Bama has signed recruits from 15. Some of that is due to their success and lack of ball players from Alabama, but they are undoubtedly outworking everyone else as well.

I'm over waiting on LA kids. You want in? Fine, commit. You don't? Well, guess what, we're moving on.

couldn't agree more. Louisiana always has it's share of talent but it, by a long shot, is not the only tree bearing fruit. our historic success has been predacated by the fact that we have, under Miles, developed a strong national footprint and our logo is respected, not just by Louisiana coaches, but by coaches nationwide. kids, their parents and mentors see our unprecedented nfl early entry success rate and they know that they will get full support and prep for whatever path they take. Miles will continue to recruit Louisiana kids with vigor and integrity but unfortunately, for some Louisiana kids, integrity is not a word they understand or a way of life they embrace.

who is the best replacement for a Speedy Noil? He's a fast little water bug who could possibly excel in the slot or as a return guy.

We have guys with potentially just as much shake and bake as him but slightly bigger package, like D.Voorhies.

D.J.Chark is very similar to Noil. 3-star vs 5-star, but stars aren't everything.

Not to mention guys we were crazy about getting last year (Avery Johnson, Diarse, Spears).

Noil wasn't nearly as big a need as GW3.

So, serious question... who should LSU have "been in on earlier" to potentially replace Noil's role? Where did the LSU staff screw up in this regard?

stick with them? what does that mean? We can "stick with them" and still recruit others! Wouldn't Willis want us to have other stuff DE/DTs? Fla is loaded up on them! aTm is loading up on receivers, AL has very good safeties and corners, etc etc etc

Is Godchaux, Clark, and Valentine not 'sticking with others' while still making Willis the top priority?

NO! But in case you've been under a rock, we recruited 2 more great backs during his decision process and he gave exactly ZERO fricks.

agreed on the speedy front...and I don't have particulars on every top recruit....all I know is there are several in the last 3 weeks that have been talked about and have commented either all year or lately that LSU is late to the game or didn't contact them at all

In case you have been living under a rock, we have the #3 class in the country with some outstanding talent even after missing on guys, and you think there is something wrong with that.

And one of those guys didn't like the idea of not being "the priority" and he rolled out, didn't he? You can't lump every prospect into one group, all of these kids have different personalities, priorities, ect.

LSU has commitments from the #1 player in the nation for 2014, 2015 and 2017...they're not doing too bad on the recruiting trail if you ask me.
