between Thompson and Collins is slight, there is still a drop-off, meaning that Bama got the better player and LSU has to make do with a lesser option.

Still not seeing it. We shall see. There's no one Collins had to beat out. Martin is a good player. Thompson barely lost out as a Sophomore and will get significant playing time this fall.

Is Colling starting? I haven't looked.

There is a trend that is starting to happen with us losing nationally ranked top in-state recruits to one team. If this was to a multitude of teams not an issue, but a pipeline of our top in-state recruits starting to go to Bama is a problem we need to recognize it.

You're not recognizing the root causality of the defections. They're going to one school because one school is racking up the national championships. Once that's no longer happening (and it will end likely this year) then you'll see a change.

I guess I don't understand what people are proposing should be done. There have always been top players that leave Louisiana. Bama's been the ones racking up the hardware so that's why there's this illusion that Saban has some kind of unprecedented pipeline into Louisiana. It's just an illusion. They're following the trophies, not Saban.

It's not like they lose top prospects in their own state, do they?

Who's starting for Florida St. @ QB this fall?

LSU doesn't have any real connections in Alabama. LSU generally recruits LA, TX and FL, and that is all LSU really needs to do.

Saban has connections in LA, thus his ability to actively recruit LA.

Prominentwon - look those recruits may or may not hurt LSU but that is not the point!!! Can you not read? The point is there is a trend of top recruits "and all the recruits that were listed were top recruits at that time" we can make excuses as to why we didn't sign them, but excuses are like a**holes everyone has one. The point was this is starting to be a trend and you have done nothing to dispel that argument in your comments.

You do realize we are taking top talent from other states each year too, correct?

You know what else is starting to be a trend? Alabama winning championships. Until LSU ends that trend, Bama is going to take a recruit or 2 from LA.

Can you tell me how many times LSU has gotten the top 5 prospects in the state?

Losing Robinson sucks, but let's not act like LSU has reeled in the state's best year after year and this is some new trend that will be detrimental to the program.

A trend. 1 over 3 years is a straight line on a graph. That's not a "trend."

Bama lost out on a host of its Top 10 guys in Alabama 2 years ago to FSU

They seemed to do ok

Let's see how it all plays out...mmmk?

Winning NC's takes much more than getting a kid or two out of La......Bama has had some good fortune along the way

Why dont you go and bitch at all the other SEC teams that can't seem to stay on the same field with Bama.....LSU has beat em more than anyone the past 10 years

No doubt. like I said, Collins can go to Bama all he wants. Thompson has shown he can play and Ronald Martin apparently barely beat him out for the starting job.

My whole point is that LSU can find guys that are just as talented and the talent difference between the two are minute to zero.

If Landon Collins was as good as his ranking was and as good as people on this board make him out to be, he would have passed Vinny Sunseri now.

They're listed as -or- on the depth chart.

Same can be said for Corey Thompson and Ronald Martin.

Where's the gap in talent?
