He has awesome speed for a 6 ft 3 QB. His running ability really stuck out in the 6A championship game last year. He was MVP and earned it. “He’s a winner” is an understatement. Just everything you want in a QB and the family love for LSU is real. Longview plays West Monroe in Shreveport during week 4 next season if you are in the area.

Coach Baw and I go way back. I remember Haynes as a little fart running around and really excited to see his future play out. He comes from a great family, no doubt. Hope he wears purple and gold.

So I'm in KC.....
So things i think about
1) How does he play against top competition
2) How does he react to pressure
3) those short dump passes, that look easy, but really aren't.... what do those passes look like
I knew little of this guy prior to watching videos... There is a certain "Calmness" in his game... What i mean is, the game is slower to him, he gets pressured he just CALMLY SLIDES TO THE LEFT or RIGHT....
He reminds me of a QB (out of TX) that plays here in KC...
The first time watching Mahomes, I said to myself "everything just looks slower and instead of losing it and running, he calmly steps to the side and makes it look easy"
This KID IS SPECIAL...
A GOOD QB will make the MOST INEPT OFFENSE a powerhouse
I'm not saying he is Mahomes or what not, i'm saying the game is slower to him, and that is something "YOU CAN'T COACH"

He's a better athlete than Finley so, sure but he won't.

Put on 30 lb's and move him to OT.

Not saying anything is imminent, but I won't be remotely shocked when Finley jumps ship and King jumps on board.

I’m not high on Finley. King and Johnson would be an A+ QB haul.

Id take King and Johnson as well but not because i dint like Finley. Just like Johnson more. King should be a take no matter what. If the other 2 dont like it then kick rocks.
Vol, thanks for somewhat confirming what another of your ilk has also said regarding Finley. It seems to not be a matter of if but when with Finley.

Finally got around to watching some of his film. Dude can ball. Some of the my favorite film I have watched of a qb recruit in the past few years.

he's got a weird release but it doesn't seem to affect his accuracy or timing.

Kid can run, just ran a 4.5 flat at the opening regional in Dallas. Reminds me of Shea Patterson how he throws on the run.

Earned an Elite 11 invite also today. Expected to visit Arkansas next weekend.

Mahomes has thrown underhanded, overhanded and LEFT HANDED......
it's the calmness under pressure that stands out to me

Staff would be crazy to pass on an in-state prospect like Finley. Dude has incredible upside. He could very well end up growing to 6'7 within the next year.
Theres nothing special about Johnson's tape that makes him more of a take over Finley. King is a nice prospect. He's seems like a gamer, but his throwing release bothers me. I'm sure it can be cleaned up but I dont have much faith in our staff when it comes to that.

6-3, 183
4.50 40
4.14 shuttle
34.8 vertical
39.5 power ball toss

Finley growing to 6’7 would actually be a bad thing

3. QB, Haynes King, Longview – The stock just keeps on rising for King. First he ran a 4.50 in the 40, one of the fastest times of the day, regardless of position. Then he went on and showed a strong arm, accuracy and a clean delivery. This all came one day after running in a track meet and recently removed from his basketball season. King was a recent riser in the Top247 for 247Sports and the rise likely to continue. Expect him to be the most highly recruited quarterback in the country this spring. He earned an invite to the Elite 11 Finals on Sunday.
From Under Armour Dallas yesterday
Also from the Under Armour event in Santa Monica DJ U the QB said we are top 3 with Clemson and Oregon and hopes to decide by the end of spring. Put it here as it pertains to the QB debate. It seems apparent that one or both of our commits isn't in our future plans

Talked to some Longview folks and King is trending well

For those who can get Fox Sports Southwest, they replay many of the Texas state championship football games, particularly during the summer.
So if you haven't already seen the Longview game, you may be able to do that.

King moved up again on 247. From 43 to 31. In that 5* range now. They will update kids from camps on Fridays now.
