Twitter noise saying Kiel told Vandy no thanks and will announce ND Wednesday/Thursday. Just more unconfirmed static.

New article by SBNation.com. Says ND,LSU, Vandy (no particular order) are teams in consideration. Article breaks down new video.

Guess we will know soon enough...

Here's my take - he could have committed a long time ago - he's an EE, so all of this is being driven by that fact.

Indiana is his home, state university. I admire him for considering the school. However, he could have just as easily committed to Notre Dame, Northwestern, Michigan, Michigan State, as well as Vandy, (ETA: tOSU), or even Missouri, for that matter are roughly equivalent distances.

If he's staying close to home, and has made up his mind, why prolong it to this point? If he's leaning to LSU (which is the only big school outside of his comfort zone), then he's taking more time to weighs the pros and cons. If he's sold on the whole football/academics package at Notre Dame or, even more academically at Vandy, that's fine, admirable and I wish him well. If he's agonizing because he wants to stay close to home so his parents can watch him play more regularly, I understand that.

If we didn't have mett I think it would be a slam dunk. The kid wants to play.

I think mett is just as good or better though, but getting a qb right now would time out perfect.

this is one of the most drama filled recruitment's, without any drama from the recruit himself, that ive ever seen.

I think that is the ultimate question. Does Kiel have the stones to go head-to-head against Mett (and Phillips, and...) to be Miles' go to guy to win games. Les has shown time in and time out if you are the best, you get the nod. Does Kiel believe he is the best?! (and does he want to play with the best?)

Didn't Keil want to be an EE? Wouldn't that mean he would have to pick today?

This isn't true at all. I know last year Aaron Lynch was for FSU the whole way, visited Notre Dame January 14, and decommited from FSU and enrolled at ND, taking classes January 17.

As for Kiel as a prospect, to be honest, I think he's overrated. Just looking at his highlight tape and knowing his competition, I'm a little surprised he's the #1 QB. He does have good measurables and can run (note: I'm not saying he's a dual threat, because he's not, but he can run if he has to. He's not a statue in the pocket) and I certainly hope ND can nab him, but I think he'd be behind Hendrix/Golson for 3 or 4 years here.
