Greg Gilmore is one of the must have players for the 2013 recruiting family. Beckwith and Williams also fill needs and are crucial for rebuilding the wall around The Boot after last year. Mom and dad Gilmore were with Greg for his official and the fact that he will still visit LSU on November 3 and decide shortly thereafter is huge for LSU in my view. Uncommitted and still scheduled to visit LSU with his parents are the key points at this time.

The 2nd visit to LSU in Nov. is for his mom's benefit (She has not been to LSU). His dad came with him on his 1st LSU visit.

The 2nd visit to Florida this past weekend was for his dad's benefit (he had not been to Florida). His mom went with him on his 1st visit there.

The decision is Greg's but he wants both parent's approval.

Correction: Ma Gilmore did not go to Florida this weekend. He went with his dad.

Disclaimer: I am pretty sure he will end up at LSU but these few comments made me raise my eyebrow a little. I am hoping that he is just enjoying the recruiting process but here it goes:

on Florida...
quote:

"They were cool guys," Gilmore said. "They were kind of like me -- laid-back dudes ready to ball out, go to the NFL and make that money. That's what it's all about, making those bowl games and stuff like that. They are looking to get down there and have a lot of fun."

quote:

LSU had been Gilmore's long-time leader, but after his trip to Florida, Gilmore says the Gators have pulled even with the Tigers.

quote:

"Every thing is pretty neutral right now," Gilmore said. "I'm not going to say nobody is ahead of nobody. I have a lot to consider right now and everything is pretty even right now.

quote:

"I would rate the visit an 11," he continued. "I think they really surprised me with this visit. I came in to this visit with LSU leading and I was just looking at this visit as a normal visit because I've been here before. But they really surprised me and turned the visit around and showed me the family hospitality and the hard work that they put in at the University of Florida."

quote:

With Gilmore's two leaders, LSU and Florida, squaring off in two weeks, who will the No. 101-ranked player in the country be rooting for?

quote:

"I was going to drive down for that game, but I don't think that's a good idea. I'm a USC Trojan fan, so I'm just going to stay neutral in that game and not root for either team."

I have no idea what he is referring to about USC?? but anyway just wanted to share...I still think we land him but this did make me raise an eyebrow

Surprised this hasn't made it over here yet.

UF pulls even with LSU for Gilmore

quote:

“Amazing experience,” he said. “The game was great, the tour was great and my dad loved the academics. The coaches maximized that visit and they made a big impression on me. That wasn’t something I expected and I really thank the players for that, too. All of it was just amazing.”

quote:

Gilmore was hosted by true freshman defensive ends Alex McCalister and Jonathan Bullard, who are both from North Carolina and made him feel at home along with Tar Heel State products D.J. Humphries and Rhaheim Ledbetter.

“Hanging out with those boys was pretty cool,” Gilmore said. “I can only compare this to one school and that’s LSU. They have a defensive end from (Greenwood) South Carolina named Sam Montgomery. Last spring he told me that it’s hard coming from The Carolinas and going to LSU with them Louisiana boys. You don’t have anybody to hang out with.”

“But Florida has four guys from North Carolina and they’re all a year ahead of me. I played with all of them either in a game or at the Shrine Bowl. So I’m way more comfortable around them guys. They’re all just like me and getting to know them was the highlight of my trip.”

Honestly, I hope he comes to LSU but if he doesn't then the show must go on....he is not the one piece of our program that we must have in order to continue with this success. Don't get me wrong, I really hope he signs with LSU..but it won't be the end of the world if he chooses another school.

Fairly big blow if we don't sign another DT in this class IMO. Whether its Gilmore, Bain, or X we need to sign another one. DL depth will suffer after next year otherwise.

Well some of us thought that LC would come once we beat Bama last year, but that didn't happen.
