Did you just choose not to watch Chase dominate the last game?

No I did, but that was just one game. I think Chase is going to be awesome but you can't tell me after watching this entire season that it is out of the realm of possibilities that a top notch WR could come in and be a #1. Did you watch any Bama games this year? Could Chase have had a better year? Not bowl game but year. It isn't a knock on him or Marshall, just saying if last signing day I told you we would get this type of production from the 5star Wr's we just signed you wouldn't be that impressed.

After hearing Ensminger's bowl press conference, I think there is very little chance a true freshman comes in and starts a game next year given the talent we have returning. It sounded like they want to be able to run a more complex offense this year and were unable to do so because of the inexperienced and young receivers.

I'm sure a guy as talented as Pickens will get some playing time, but I doubt he would be where they want him to be as far as knowing the playbook and the audibles and recognizing coverages.

I'm probably going to catch heat for this, but I'd rather:

Parker
Sopsher
Moore
Young
Pickering
Lee
Hampton
Williams

Over Pickens. Pickens is probably the most talented of the bunch, but I don't think we need a WR as much as we need those other positions.

Agree but for different reason. Kid may not keep the grades. May be one of those kids that gets taken out the rotation because of classwork issues

I think most would agree with you.

I just really like you can pretty much throw the ball up/any where around Pickens.. and he will go get it. He's not a blazer, but sure is a nice weapon with great size.

There's talk that Parker may not qualify. Even if he does qualify, there's talk that he wants to play TE instead of OT.

Our first priority needs to be ensuring that we don't waste a scholly signing him if he's not going to qualify.

Our second priority needs to be getting him to commit to playing OT, if he qualifies. I don't think taking a 3rd TE in this class is a great idea. If we do that, 2 out of those 3 TE's would have originally committed as OL. And we'll end this class with our only OT commit being ranked #36 in the nation at his position.

We haven't landed a true, blue-chip OT in any of the last 3 cycles, as of now.

Man, you're misrepresenting what I said. I said I love Chase's game and have no doubt he can and will be as good of a receiver as we have ever had. But if you think it is impossible for a guy with the talent level of Pickens to join the tigers and in his first year here surpass any of our starting receivers then you're either trying to prove your point too much and being blind or you're not an explayer. I think I know which one it is and I get it, because I think the world of Chase and that's why I said it isn't a knock on him or anyone else, but more an illustration of what I think Pickens is capable of. I never said it was certain, I said he has the tools and raw talent to be that good that early.

I think that you are very wrong about not needing another tight end. He can come in as a tight end. It is up to him if he gets to stay there.

You really feel like taking 3 TE's this cycle is the right move?

If I had known Parker was really a TE, I would've taken him as the only TE in this class.

How is he going to learn the playbook, coverages, adjustments and audibles; If he can't pass high school? One is harder than the other I would assume.

Bad grades in HS doesn’t necessarily mean you’re incompetent. A lot of kids just don’t like school

I’d bet his football IQ is pretty damn high

Yes. But we continued to ride with Giles for a great deal of the season. Honestly, the WR rotation seemed like a fire drill this year.

Marshall was still rehabbing. Both will get plenty of reps in the Spring with Burrow.

Who’s on the roster right now that you feel good about?

I just saw that Pickens is good friends with the Auburn QB signee Nix, and will probably stick with Auburn.

I disagree with Bol on this one, I really don’t think grades have much to do with this one. Could be wrong but timeline doesn’t add up. Just the same , I hope I am wrong on this one.And

Well, here's who we'll have:

Pettigrew
Moss
McMath
Moffitt
Sheffer

And I think they move Sullivan to TE in the offseason. And we just signed Turner and McLendon. That's 7-8 TE's on the roster now.

I guess I feel good about Pettigrew, McMath, and Sullivan. Like our incoming recruits at TE (and all positions), some of our younger guys from the last couple of classes are still unproven.

Again, you really think taking 3 TE's in this 2018 class is the way to go? Were you thinking months ago that we needed 3 TE's in this class?

I think Parker should've been the only TE we took in this class, and we needed 2 more true OT's to go with.

They already tried Sullivan at TE and it didn't work. McMath played out wide in the bowl game, so even if he is a TE he's definitely only a receiving TE at this point in his career.

Moss is coming off of three foot surgeries (kind of a big deal). We have no idea if he'll ever even play again.

Pettigrew is the only true two way tight end on the roster right now and he's coming off an ACL.

Sheffer and Moffitt are wastes of scholarship at this point in their careers and shouldn't even be in the discussion.

McClendon looks to be an all purpose TE, but I don't think you ever truly know what you've got with these juco guys.

Turner won't be a TE his entire career. He's probably only starting out at TE out of necessity.

Even if Parker really does want play TE, there is no way he would actually stay there, no matter where he goes. Once he gets on campus, any coach worth his salt will easily be able to convince him that OT is where his future, and NFL potential, lies. I mean, of course he'd rather play tight end. Offensive line isn't nearly as fun as getting the ball in your hands to most kids.

So...my math says we have 2 all around TEs, one receiving TE, and one (or two, with Parker) offensive linemen converted to blocking TEs. Also, I know the true freshman might be able to contribute next year, but I don't think it would be smart to be expecting them to.
