I knew Bama was on Hootie hard when he kept moving his announcement date back. I thought that he was LSU's to lose until cam got in his ear. He aint telling no one but his closest peeps which way he is leaning.
I give Les credit for coming up sunday for a last minute pitch. The thing that pisses me off is that Les actually came to watch him play last year where as Saban hasnt. He would be better off at LSU considering he would get in the NFL quicker, b/c he will start his first year where as he wont at Bama.
There is one thing that Bama can show that LSU cant is those NCs, which I think LSU has as much chance at like they did in 11 and 12 as Bama did in the future.

This kid is truthfully torn, I'm convinced. Regardless of whatver facts out there, his actions indicate he's yet to make a firm decision. I think in the end, lsu and the entire state of Louisiana will end up happy and it will be bc he chose us.
First off, kuddos to this kid for being resilient and comfortable in his own skin. Pretty much tells me all I need to know about him as a person... Kid will be successful wherever he goes. He's done this the best way possible... It's us... The passionate fanbases making this more of a circus than it really is.
I'll reiterate, hootie will be successful no matter what school he chooses. But i feel he has a lot more to gain at lsu than bama and Brandon Harris said it best. " I want to be in the Louisiana sports hall of fame, not the Alabama or auburn one." Maybe I am reading too much into this, but with his mothers support (of which I have no doubt she is more pro lsu than ever thanks to les miles) and the fact that based on claims made by Neville(the poster), hooties hometown is very rich in state pride and especially pro lsu.... These factors will help make this decision easier for him. Like rasco showed us and Landon Collins mother too... The mother of most recruits ultimately has the best and most influential guide to these players recruitment.
We still have a dog in this fight. It's not over and if you believe it is... Then you move on... Don't be negative to the guys who feel good about it. That will be our own hubris to face when it's that time.
There are 100 different reasons I feel hootie is comin to lsu and everyone of them is basically irrelevant or moot except that his mother likes... Maybe loves lsu. If bama had that... Hootie would have been gone ... He's not, he's still uncommitted and lsu, les miles and mrs jones will have a word in before it's over

No problem sir. Thank you for being a reliable and honest poster

Neville - honestly - what is your take, right now?
80/20 (Bama)? 90/10?
I mean, you see the kid on a regular basis - I only know him from film and the internet.
Personally, I think it makes Miles look desperate. On the other hand, I don't ever want to give up a fight that is still winnable. I'm really torn.

Why wouldn't desperation be a good thing?
Hooties undecided, he's torn, or he's leaning to bama.
Then an honest, loyal, coach comes into your house in the 11th hour and lets you know you're his guy... Can't hurt ... Even in the extremes of scenarios

80/20 bama?? Where did you come up with these numbers?

Going into a kids house and talking with him and his parents isn't desperate. Every coach in the country does this with multiple recruits every year!

Cliche bs.... This is recruiting and you'll be and do and show whatver is necessary to let a kid know you need his talents
And the good thing is, les will mean it

To everyone here - If you haven't already read this thread (which it seems some of you haven't). It's 50/50 at this point. What reputable source that has actually talked to Hootie or people close to hootie has mentioned he's going to Bama? The only things we have to go on are this article, and NevilleTiger's post. Everything else that has been posted is a "gut feeling". It's one thing to say he's leaning one way or the other, but for some of you to write him off is ridiculous. Let him make his decision without yall jumping to conclusions. There's a reason everyone talks shite about us here, because some of yall are so good at beating each other and recruits up, and giving up so easily. Just stahp.
It's 50/50.
We can go after Hootie and Jamal, neither is a backup plan.
We will be fine regardless, show some class and move on, no matter what happens.

Les needs to do whatever it takes (within the rules) to get the top recruits. He gets paid the big bucks. If he gets Hootie to come to LSU, I am happy!

Thanks NevilleT, info welcome.
Personally, I think he's decided (with help from CRob) but not convinced... if that makes any sense.
Won't be easy changing his mind. He went against Moms and has taken the plunge. Except he didn't do it on Natl TV. But LSU needs him!! Thanks you LSU staff for fighting for it to the very end.

I'm just asking questions - the feeling has been a Bama lean, however slight, the whole time - when prospects didn't brighten after Saturday's visit - I don't know what to tell you - I'm trying to be realistic, but I'm assuming the kid is going to Bama now - there is nothing to indicate he is not.

Hootie to bama only really started once CRob was all but locked up to the tide
Hootie almost committed to LSU in the spring

I thought I said that as well - I'm all for not giving up a fight that is still winnable.
(But I think he's going to Alabama, unfortunately - I hope I turn out to be wrong.)

Dude, seems to have a serious and i mean SERIOUS infatuation with Gage. Since camp, he's acted like that's his own kid.

FWIW Someone posted on the 247 board that CJ Hampton will be visiting LSU next week. Not sure what that implies though. I have always known that LSU was continuing to recruit him although his recruitment has been pretty low key.
He is currently committed to Ole Miss but also giving LSU and bama some serious looks.
