i'm exaggerating but he's no specimen

Ben Wilkerson was also like 225 or 230 when he got to LSU and played at like 250 as a true freshman starter.

You guys need to understand Fordham had a bout with mono during his junior year, that most likely made him lose some weight

Right now Fordham is 240 lbs, when he gets to LSU he will be around the 250 range. By the time he's a redshirt sophomore he will be between 280 and 290. I think Stud and Miles know what they're doing when it comes to O-lineman, remember this kid got an offer at a camp.

If memory serves me correct, Mawae was 6-5, 240 in High school.

High school TE's become college O-Linemen all the time.

One year Va. Tech. had three starting OL that were former TE's.

Kevin Mawae his Sr. year was 6'4" 270#'s. An how many times has he been in the Pro Bowl?

As you guys are saying, quickness is the key for a center. Mawae, McClure, Wilkerson, Helms, all these great Tiger centers were a little undersized.

The big thing with OC is technique. I remember some saying the only reason we signed Todd Mc was because of his brother. I knew the kid could play and could have played a # of positions.

I use to have an open pass to LSU practice, Mawae and Gabe Northern use to jaw all practice.

I went to Leesville High and Kevin Mawae was a junior when I was a senior. If I remember correctly, he was about 225 going into his junior year and in the 240s going into his senior year.

Citing other examples, LSU and otherwise, Peterman came to LSU as a tight end, I think around 250. D'Brickashaw Ferguson was in the 240s when he signed with Virginia and wound up getting drafted high first round in the 2008 draft as a 300-plus pound offensive tackle.

Looking at Fordham's photo, it looks like he has the bone structure to bulk up quite a bit, plus it seems he's a good athlete with quickness and good lateral movement. Give him a redshirt year and I think he'll be on his way.

Everything I can find has him at 240#. But they also list him at 6'5" and one had him at 6'6".

Hey LSUDad, I remember a Mark Miller. I didn't know him really personally but knew of him. He played QB on the football team, I think. I believe he was in Kevin's class as well, though I might be wrong. Sounds like you're an LHS guy?

Hes a good friend of mine, I didn't go to LHS but I do know a few from there. Mark is the DC at Katy Taylor High in Tx. Look for him to be moving up one day, great coach and great guy.

One game this year I was on the sidelines and I told Mark, "I feel like stealing something!" What you mean was his reply. "I'm looking for an INT!" Next play, Millers Safety got the INt, he then said, "You called it!"
Every game I was on the sidelines this past season, they won. They had the schools best year ever.
